Is that stuff that bad for you at all?

Riding a sport bike is probably a lot more hazardous to your health.

I ended going out to palomar at about 9. It was a beautiful day. The road was pretty good. The po-po was in full effect though. They had the helicopter out and everything. Understandably, because of the po-po the place was pretty empty. Although, if you kept it under 55 and didn't cross the double yellow, you didn't have a problem. But then again I don't have any mods on my bike that would warrant any fix-it tickets either.

Is the speed limit on the south grade really 55? If so, that's pretty sweet. I never paid attention to anything other than the suggested speed signs, but I assumed the max speed was in the 30s or 40s.

well this morning i talked to someone who got pulled over for an illegal license plate mounting and the officer gave him a fix-it ticket. when shooting the breeze with the officer he was told that the speed limit is 55, so go as fast as you want with in that limit and don't cross the double yellows or do anything unsafe. Other than that have fun and a great day. The guy said that the cop was pretty cool actually and that they were making their presence felt to make sure that people are riding/driving safe and responsible due to all the crashes lately.

55 is a pretty good speed for the mountain. i siriously thought it was like 35ish since some posted limits around the turns are like 15 or sumthin like that.

yeah, honestly i don' think that the speed limit is 55 on the south grade. but, i kept it under 55 and never crossed any double yellows, and never had any problems. i passed numerous officers and saw the helicopter buzzing the mountain while i was running one of my passes on the south grade. so, either i got real lucky or the advice worked. who knows :squid:

South grade is considered a highway and the speed limit IS 55 there. You can have fun all day long going the speed limit there. As said earlier, just watch out for the DY crossings.

Don't forget that riding or driving the speed limit does not mean you can't get a wreckless driving ticket, all depends on the road conditions, and the suggested limit on the corners are, what is considered a safe speed to take them, anything faster than that can be considered wreckless. If you take a 30mph corner at 55, you might get a ticket, this is left up to the discression the the officer!
