Hey guys, Brian aka "the dmv test bike guy" saying hi. I got referred to the site from some motard friends, and some folks off socal sv riders. i did a search and didn't find "50 ways to save your life" so I posted it up on my site and thought i'd share. if you guys don't mind i'd love to borrow/steal some of the riding tips off here, and add them to the list.
here's the "50 ways" and some other tips:

Bookmarked it, thanks. I'm going to refer your site to everybody I know, especially to those that I know who want to get into or just got into riding.

sweet! i was just forced to sell that bike, which i absolutely loved despite being a bit slow for a motard. I had a dumb little lowside, and cranked my hand the wrong way tearing up a bunch of ligaments in the process. i can still ride, but can't brake hard. that and between xray work and dmv test bike I'm working 7 days a week. good news is 17's are on the way for the DMV test bike!
Thanks for the compliments on the site. My goal is to have a excellent/cover everything tips page, then really drill the basics of bike control in the lessons. All my folks KNOW countersteering, in slow/out fast, emergency braking, etc. I also do everything i can to keep my students from buying race replica's as their first bike, it's a uphill battle though :bringit:

Great list. I've been riding for years and I just read through the whole thing as a refresher. I think there is one missing though:
When braking, keep an eye on what's happening behind you. Not everyone can brake as fast as you and that 6,000 pound Hummer behind you is being "driven" by a soccer mom yelling at her kids while applying makeup and drinking her latte. She might not see you emergency braking. This goes along with leaving your bike in gear at intersections and while braking in case you need to make a quick getaway.

Good post. The MSF course was running through my head all over again while reading those pointers. Regardless of experience, it's always good to give yourself a refresher every now and again.
