Looking to bring our roster to about 10 so we are interested in anyone who will be racing WERA and or WSMC... slow beginner... fast expert... fast beginner... slow expert... it doesn't matter! we're a good bunch of racers who enjoy having fun on and off the track
If you usually make the solo trip to races why not go with a team?!
We'll be at most WERA events for 2007 so its a good way to get support from team mates at the track... from sharing rooms to sharing rides... pit b1tching... etc
We are working on sponsorship for 2007 so you will be entitled to them as well... (we have just signed on ACT Leathers for 2007 and they will be producing a custom suit for us, also working on tire deals at the moment as well as others)
other opportunities may arise to help cornerwork at trackdays
there are 8 of us now... 6 in SoCal, 1 in NorCal, and 1 on the East Coast (soon to be 2 on the East Coast). All class ranges from ultralightweight, lightweight, middleweight, unlimited, and supermoto (maybe motox and off road)
You'll also have a spot on the team website and give you a spot to post of race reports, pictures, bio, etc.
If you're racing in 2007 and interested, please contact me via PM or through the website at http://www.bigheadzracing.com
thanks!

Try out? The requirements are that you race, are cool, can take a joke and like Captain Morgan.

just a quick question...how fast is a 2:07 at Buttonwillow on a basically stock 600 (suspension wise bike is stock...geared -1 +2 sprockets)
is that a pretty good amatuer pace?

Here are the WERA results from Buttonwillow last July.
CLass C superstock (http://www.mylaps.com/results/newResults.jsp?id=358718)
Typically you will see your lap times drop about 2 seconds come race time. Also, you will see yourself getting faster as the year goes on.

that's a respectable time for sure.
first time up there i was pulling 2:02s last couple sessions with stock gearing. gearing would have been nice for drive coming out of corners

Racing does require a license. You can get one from WSMC this weekend. Or you can get one from Jim Cox (http://www.jimcoxracing.com)

you need a license, a supportive wallet/bank account, and lots of credit cards!!!!

how much would you say it would cost me to race my R6 for lets say 3 races in a year? And my bike is not race prepped. nor do i own a truck to tow my bike everywhere.
750 a weekend + 500 to get everything ready and purchac everything you'll need. Just a rough estimate. This is on the cheap. In reality it will eat p all of your disposable income and then a little more.

yah i heard the old saying... i plan on going on the cheap =)
wanna be racer: "So how much will it cost"
veteran: "All of it"

I plan on racing the full season with WERA and most of WSMC. I've pretty much accepted that I'll be eating a lot of tuna, rice and noodles for the rest of the year; but it still feels like I'm getting punched in the stomach everytime I drop $400 on a new set of rubber.

how many races a month does wera run?
veejay
03-15-2007, 04:35 PM
usually once a month...
its hard to say you'll just do "3' Races because its like the track day bug... once you get started you don't want to stop.
don't forget to figure in practice days, gas for the transport and bike, as well as lodging
tires are the biggest expense. 1 of the reasons i switched to racing Supermoto is cost difference. It's about half what I spent road racing.

Dude, I spend half of a trackday doing supermoto racing.. I get 4 or 5 races out of a set of tires, and the actual race costs what, $70? You're problem is you just don't suck enough. Slow down like me and it gets cheaper ;)

No joke. I told myself I am just going to race WERA this year and I keep having to talk myself out of racing other venues.
