hey i was just wondering what all of you think about timberland motorcycle boots. now i havent heard much about them nor have i heard of many people wearing them... but i have a 45% off coupon along with another 10$ off added to that, but unsure of whether or not these boots will protect me as well as some of the A* stuff or the sidi boots. let me know what you guys think. heres the link:

$200-$90-$10 -> $100+tax+shipping?

$90-$40.5-$10 -> $39.5+tax+shipping?

if these are not recommended even for the price that i might be able to get them at, what do you guys suggest as a boot that has practicality as well as protection? im an everday commuter that rides to school and i need to be able to walk in them. thanks everyone.

they don't say anything about ankle and heel protection on the boots that i saw on their site. they seem a little suspect as far as safety goes. i think it would be better to get a pair of A* for about the same price or a little bit more. expecially with buymoto (http://www.buymoto.com) having a big sale this weekend. :thumbsup:

Your links don't work

Links don't work. Do you mean the "Men's Downshifter Max Boots" ?

There's no side to side ankle stabilizer, but it looks alright. I'd still put my money on a proven boot like A*. Maybe it's just me, but I like functioning feet.

Those things are ugly! For $75 more you can get the full fledged Sidi race boots

so even 100$ for the "downshifter boots" or 40$ for the other would still be a bad buy? at least should i look into the 40$ one for practicality everyday riding and maybe look into daytona or sidis for canyon carving?

for practical everyday riding, good ole fashioned combat boots.
OR sidi/alpinestars/diadora/frank thomas street boots.

you don't need to dish out 300 bux for race boots, it's NICE but they're overkill for everyday riding and they suck for walking

For the price, I'd sport either of those for regular commuting, although the $100 one is kind of ugly as James stated. While I agree more protection is better than less, some protection is better than none. In other words, they beat flip flops and tennis shoes.

No such thing as overkill for the street... If anything, you need more gear, not less.... Yeah, just go for real boots and you'll be happier in the long run.

I'm gonna second that. One of my Harley uncles ran off the road and ended up shattering his ankle. Yes that's shattering. A pair of $300 boots would have definitely saved that. Whenever I commute on my bike I keep some street moccasins in my side satchel so I can stroll in comfort and ride safely. Be an awful shame to be sitting on the side of the road somewhere nursing an ankle injury with my boots at home in my closet.

As far as the cost is concerned. I always look at all safety gear from the perspective that sure it is expensive, but the cost of treating the injury any piece of safety gear saves you from is far beyond the cost of that piece of gear. Sure $350 for boots is crazy expensive, but the cost of treating a shattered ankle is way more. Plus I am a big puss when it comes to pain.

Aside from that I wanted to add "I got Timber's on my toes and this is how it goes... one, two, oh my god."
