Hahaha! I remember watching that MacWorld keynote ... so many years ago. OS X has also crapped out on Steve on many occasions during his demos, but that's why there's the backup machines.

There's also the infamous one where a digicam died on stage and Steve was visibly frustrated. He tossed the camera into the crowd, where of the attendees tried to help out.

It's amazing the amount of preparation and rehearsal that goes into one of these things, and the sort of OCD things that are done to ensure everything runs smoothly. I remember reading one of the commentaries from a person working the backstage, one of the product engineers for iPhoto and the countless sleepless nights he had to prepare that portion of the keynote.

No level-headed Mac user will say Macs don't crash. But I haven't had to reboot mine for weeks now, considering I just put my PowerBook to sleep. I can't do the same with my ThinkPad.
