how did it happen, too hot, chop throttle, peg stick in
damnage looks minimal btw
but looks like a nice akra pipe will clean things up
Good to hear your okay. Damage doesn't seem to look to bad on the bike either.
Was it right as you turned in? That's a common place to lose the front since your changing directions from left to right very quickly.

hell ya pipe time, it was weird i was accelerating going into the long right sweeper and all of a sudden the front tire was out from under me! walked the spot and you could see a smear mark through this thick black tar spot right by the white line, funny thing is that is the same line i always take and no problems before.
ya know what they say, **** happens! oh well
now i just have to decide what color fur i wanna cover my bike in? hhmmmmmm.........:-p

Glad you made out alright dude!!! As far as crashes go, didn't look so bad at all. The kind of crash you hope for. Kind of, I guess.
BTW, did you have frame sliders? I think I see 'em in your avatar, but I'm not sure.

 Glad to hear you made it out ok, damage looks tolerable. Always sucks to drop the bike regardless of how little damage is done, most of us can sympathize with ya. Did you get hurt at all?

yes i did and it did a great job until it broke off, luckily the mounting hole is still threaded fine so i can just replace the bolt and put the slider back on.

Dude, I'll buy those plastics from you if you're gonna get rid of 'em!!! I've been wanting to go streetfighter for a while but don't want to cut my plastics without a spare. Let me know if you're gettin rid of 'em. The tank too. I though about welding some ram-air vents on the front corners of the tank and putting headlights in the stock ram air duct.

:errf: I dunno if you want to cover up the ram air ducts

Normally, no. But I want to add new ones to the gas tank. Here's a crappy 30-second Microsoft paint drawing.....
http://home.san.rr.com/bfahr/tank2.jpg
The one on the left is probably where I'd go with it. The duct on the right would interfere with clip-on movement, but if I got triple-tree mounted bars, it should work fine. It would look trick, though. Kinda like the Yamaha Warrior intakes.
I don't think you actually get the "ram air" effect until about 130mph, where air is actually being compressed and forced into the cylinder. I'll just have to modify or remove the airbox. Removing it would be easier, but the intake air would be pretty heated.

Staight through and mating to modified airbox.

interesting, are you familiar at working with metal? Don't blow yourself up welding your gasoline tank;)

and use a resporator,...welding fumes are really bad for ya
Philo
03-17-2004, 02:14 PM
No, but you gotta start somewhere. Pretty dumb place to start, but WTF. I think it would be cool. Figure I'd lose 10-15 mph top speed losing fairings and efficient intake, but since I got a ticket, I've only broken 120mph once or twice. Go -1 front, +2 rear sprockets and I'm set for the twisties.
Major drawback is people will expect me to know how to do stunts.
Don't worry, I'll drain at least half of the gas before I weld it. ;)
Philo

It's not something I would spend a lot of money on. Maybe a couple hundred bucks. Other than the basics (fender eliminator, flush mounts) I have no interest whatsoever in "blingifying" my bike. I just think streetfighters are bad-ass and I wouldn't notice much if any difference without fairings. Wind doesn't bother me much.
