my buddy was riding my bike. NOT speeding well we were in our cars (4 of us) and my friend squeeled his tires. and then i see a cop behind me pass me in the car and go towards my buddy on my bike. he flashes him and tells him to pull over. well he does and after everything is done. he got ticket for exibition of speed (tires the cop claims broke loose) and driving with out insurance.

1 i have insurance to cover people who ride my bike so why did he get a ticket for that. cop said he did nto ahve a insurance card on him. but we showed him the insurance for my bike.
2 if tires did break loose wouldn't the noise be minor and not as loud as car tires burnin?

also it is impounded for 30 days because of the "exibition" and costing him 1000 for 30 days because it is a illegal street racing program to stop motorcycles from racing. plus towing.

how do i get my bike out? the cop said maybe i can get it out. he was not racing. nor speeding. i think the cop heard my tires squeeling when we took off and thought it was him on the bike.

That's a load of CRAP!

First of all...I don't know a sport bike that squeals it's tires unless you're holding down the front break...otherwise you do a wheelie...

As for the insurance...he showed proof of insurance...I don't know what the cop was thinking...oh wait..he wasn't.

What an A-hole cop...

I'd get a lawyer, get your bike out and sue the city...that's a bunch of crap.

oh yeah...if you don't want to get a layer...line up your facts...go down to the courthouse and arrange to talk to a judge...

you may have to setup a trial date...get it done soon (right to a speedy trial)...explain the situation to the judge and how your buddy shouldn't even been pulled over int he first place...the cop had no evidence that the bike squealed it's tires and it's not even possible.

that is what i thought about the squeeling of the tires. and the same for the insurance but i wanted to make sure that i was not out of my mind on thinking that. i am going to talk to other people about this squeeling tire infomation and get it documented and along with my insurance papers and show it to the judge

They won't be as loud as a car but they will squeal. I doubt that your friend is familiar enough with your bike to be doing rolling burnouts via dropping the clutch (not using the front brake, most likely on cold tires).
Did he accelerate quickly? you say he wasn't speeding right...? elaborate on what he did... because Exhibition of Speed is obviously a judgement call. Also, Where did the citation occur?

You have a good chance of getting the insurance charge thrown out. That one should be easy.

with the speed it was normal take off i was behind him. the cop stated that his tires broke loose and squeeled. i know the tires were cold because we were at a meet for an hr or so talking to friends. and no he knows how to ride but not that well enough to roast them. nor would he do it because it is not his bike.

yeah i am pissed at the cop not him. he just wants to get my bike out of the impound. then he told me he does not want to fight this jsut get the insurance dropped and pay for the other fine. i told him no way in hell. that cop was in the wrong i feel.

did the cop see him break the rear end loose? What if it was someone else burning rubber, did your buddy acknowledge he was at fault?

deacon

no he did not acknowledge it was his fault no i do not think the cop saw him jsut heard it.

*check if the next statement is actually true*

One of my friends says that since your friend is not the actual owner, the actual owner may pick up the bike from the impound lot the very next day.

Check that out man. I'm a newb so I can only TRY to help. Sounds like it could be true, since you were not the one being "reckless."

well i got the bike out of the impound cost for 2 days 300$ my buddy gave me that amount so i am good for the bike. cop told the reaon for the impund besides the exibition of speed was because the cop asked my buddy what are you doing he said out having fun. that was one of the reasons why. but i explained to the cop about the boneville and said ok and noted it on the citation. so hopefully his charges get dropped

Glad you got the bike back...One time in band camp....ok, well once upon a time I had a Supercharged GTi and my friend borrowed it, took it to the races, got it impounded, and they wouldn't give it back to me for 30 days. Needless to say, he had to pay the impound fees, got his license suspended and got fined up the arse for all of his tickets including that. It's all fun and games till someone loses their ride!!
