March might be my first race this year. Wondering if anyone else had plans to do march. Any new racers?

If I can get my suspension sorted out and get the NRS out of the way I'm going to try to make the March date. Are you going have your 06 ready for March?

I will be racing the 03 i think. I just got confirmation that i would be able to get a Ohlins TTX 36 shock for the 06. Im sure it will take a month or 2 to set up. I'll post up about this shock later, but its the same technology used on the MotoGP machines. Only 500 are being imported to the US this year, and im getting one!! I'll need to get the front set up as well and i need to talk to the experts to see what i need to have done. i thought that a pistone kit and revalve would be sufficient, but i don't what to have unbalences suspension. Meaning if i need the Ohlins cartridge kit to get the most out of the set up, i guess im going to go for it. I will probablly have to put off the engine build up off, but with a base dyno of almost 110, i should be ok when i ge tthe exhaust on it.

Take the NRS saturday, ill help ya. If the wife is not going to make it i should have space for ya.

what's different between the tech requirements of AFM and WSMC? I'm interested because I hear you can get a temporary license or whatever with afm for only $50

I don't understand why people think they need more trackdays when they are already fast.

Jeff is right, you will get faster racing than doing track days. There is almost always soemone slower. There is also something about racing that makes you go alot faster than you have ever gone before. A year and a half ago i would go 3 seconds faster in a race than in practice and every race i got ALOT faster. I the past year and a half i have gotten faster waaay slower than if i would have kept racing.

I do love track days tho. something about hanging out with friends and messing around. I'm still thinking about my last track day and the session where we were passing each other all over the place.

Very true, Lost. My race pace is often 3 seconds or more faster than practice, although Nick Ienatsch told me if I went more than 1 second faster it meant I wasn't practicing hard enough. Maybe so. Funny coincidence, my buddy was #787 last year.

BTW, I think AFM gives reciprocal licenses to WSMC.

Safety wire your bike for WSMC. Then, for AFM mark your master link (color it with a sharpie) so the tech guy can see it. They want to make sure it's a rivet link, or a properly safety wired clip link. WSMC may make you have hard engine case covers on your bike, AFM definitelly will, and depending on your bike you may or may not have to buy aftermarket case covers.

ex: WSMC does not require hard case covers for the SV, but some bikes they do, AFM does for all bikes, so I had to buy an aluminum clutch cover for my 2001 SV. 2003 and newer SV's already have hard case covers on both sides, so no aftermarket purchase is necessary.

If you have a full WSMC license, expert/novice, you can get an AFM license for $50 for the year (or $25 for one round). Your points don't count toward anything, but that shouldn't matter if you only want to do 2 or 3 rounds.

Thanks Kurt. I do have a rivet link, but I'm thinking about adding another master link to increase chain/wheelbase length, I wonder if that would be legal.

Have a woodcraft cover on the stator side, but not on the ignition/clutch side.

Doesn't look to hard to race in afm if everything is set for AFM. Do they use the AMB transponders?

Anyways, racing in BW would be fun, even though I'm slow/scared as heck there

AFM uses some old transponder that you rent. If you return it at the end of the weekend, you don't get charged (and if you keep it and then return it later, you get refunded).

As for putting a second master on there for chain length 1) your chain is probably long enough as is, I'll be going from a 45 at Willow to a 47 at Sears/SOW, but 2) I wouldn't worry about pointing out that you have two masters. Just mark one and the high-and-mighty tech guy (they're all from the Bay Area and all those people think their **** doesn't stink) will be none the wiser.

Yep, he lowsided his R6 in Turn 9 back in November. It's still in my garage getting slowly pieced back together. He thinks he'll be back in April. I'm pretty sure he wants a different number in 07 anyway, so its all yours. I'll look forward to seeing you in March.
