knee/shin armor

I've been thinking about getting some armor to wear when I ride casually with jeans, and not when I'm wearing my motorcycle pants.

So what are your opinions or the following protection? Have you owned either? Brand loyalty aside, which would you prefer?

damn, those look a little expensive. I wear these in the dirt and if I were going to use knee/shin guards on the road, I'd get these over those $60 icons.
