This is going to be a nice easy ride into the canyons and twisties with a stop for lunch. This ride is for all of you who are worried about not knowing the roads and looking for more experienced riders to ride with to help you out and give you pointers. Speed will be at a slow pace in order to learn the roads and just enjoy the ride and the company. Wear the maximum amout of gear possible. No :squid:

I've been itching for a ride, an easy company one to be honest. This is good since its a slow pace and a tour for me of what I always read about. count me in as this will be my first group ride/meet with the club. ill be rolling in the typical protective gear (h/g/b/j) w/ jeans tho. looking forward to meeting everyone!

Just wear as much as you can. Helmet, gloves, jacket, and boots. Do you still have your boots? If not, over the ankle boots work too. You have to have some of those for work, don't you? =p

We'll see you guys along the way, I'll be on this ride: http://www.sportbikeswest.com/group-rides-events/4382-group-ride-sunday-march-4th.html

We'll be avoiding Paly: Salt, run-off, and snow seeking cagers.

BTW, an fyi for everyone, please remember that Daylight Savings comes into effect on March 11, so it'll actually be 8:30 if you forget to reset your clock (like I always do... :nerd: )

Because they've changed the dates this year, clocks that have been preprogrammed to automatically change will not change on the correct date, so I wouldn't rely too heavily on those...

seems like a good amount of people are going to attend. maybe we should have more than one leader just to be on the safe side. its going to be hard to keep everyone together when it comes to intersections. and for the newbs attending, dont worry about holding the group back, becuase we believe in no such thing. pretty much everyone on this forum understands and we NEVER leave anyone behind regardless of how slow they ride.

CPM F4
03-04-2007, 01:16 PM
As long as you ride your own ride and don't try to keep up with the people in front of you, you should do fine. Don't worry about holding anyone back. We'll make stops along the way so that we all stay together. It's all about getting to know the roads, other riders and most of all, having fun. Hope to see you out there.

We got that covered. ^_^ There's about 4 other people I can think of right now who have enough experience riding, and with the roads out there who are willing to help out. We should buy the leaders neon vests hahaa.

I don't know if you are kidding here or not, and if you are, I ask you skip the next paragraph, but:

That's not the point of A) a ride designated as a "Newbie ride" and B) the streets (vs. track) in general.

Hey Guys,

Couldn't tell from your route what your plans where when you get to the bottom of Banner, but but saw on another forum that 78 will be closed east of Scissors Crossing. So you'll have to head north on S2 to get to Palomar (or back up Bannner). Also probably means Montezuma will be very crowded with cars going to the desert.

Road was closed by the time we got there, we had to go another route. Had a good time out there, but felt like crap (cold), so I cut out at Santa Y. Hope everyone had a good ride back.

Apparently there was a fatality. Another biker I believe.

I was out there at 10 something, must have happened just a few minutes behind me.

Thank you everyone for taking me through my first group ride (or long ride in general). I learned a bunch of new stuff today. It was nice meeting everyone, hope to see you guys around more. Too bad I had to leave early to meet up with my family who came down to visit. Hope everyone else had a great and safe ride home.

Man, I wasn't expecting 40-50 bikes out there. Glad to see that there is a group out there as concerned about safety and a good public image like HyCy is. Had a good time, it was nice to meet all the new people and have a good safe ride.

Thanks everyone for making this group ride a GREAT ride! Everyone made it home safely I hope? Also wanted to thank Aaron (Lost) and Chuckie (Treadidas) for risking their lives and their bikes by blocking off the streets in order for 30+ riders to make it through safely and stick together when we were leaving that gas station. :woot: Hypercycles

Good times friends... another incident free ride. Not that we're immune to it but it seems a lot of the groups out there these days are prone to it.

Well after Bex and I rolled out of Paly, we took a left and headed due east for the desert. We rolled down Montezuma towards Borrego Springs and sat out at the big turnout there (little sidelight if you go to Google Earth and type in "Hellhole, CA" as your location and you have Geographic Web function turned on you can see a picture I took of this turnout) After that we rolled down to the gas station in BS and decided to continue on to the Salton Sea. The place it ugly but the ride there is nice. We then decided to end our evening with a nice little ride through El Centro I am happy to report that they have Sonic Burger and further that is the closest one to us time wise. We then picked up 8 East back to San Diego... all 120 crotch hurtin' miles of it.

Fun times. Thanks y'all.

I'm glad everyone had a good time and made it back safe and sound. Thanks to all who came out to help with the ride: Chuckie, Becky, Matt F., Matt H., Aaron, Adam, Anthony, Bengt (hope you're feeling better), Mikey, Ian, Paul and friend (sorry, didn't get your name) who got us on another route after HVR was roadblocked. I hope I didn't forget anybody. If I did, my apologies and also thank you for the help.

And a BIG thanks to Jeanette, 247BlackOut, for organizing this event.

Hope to see you again out on the road or on the track some time.

Yeah, thanks Greg for getting us all through safely. A group ride of this size can be a dagerous event without the right planning and care (everybody else that Greg listed). It was an awesome ride...even if Anthony and I missed the Old Julian portion of it. We got to ride it twice, looking for you guys so it was still fun. Also, it was nice hanging out and riding with the rest of you that were there after-hours. We had the mountain all to ourselves and got to work on our form pretty thoroughly. I'm suprised Ian hasn't posted pics of his kneepucks yet.
