Im thinking about taking my bike to school finally...I dunno if I should cheap out from a car parking permit and ride instead of caging it. Where were the last couple of thefts from? Where do u think the safest place on campus would be?

There is no safest place. I thought the safest place was near Center Hall, but it looks like that is where alot of the bikes were stolen also. And that is just next to the campus police HQ.

sup Tommy, glad to see you made it to the board. I think that the one near center hall is good, not sure if the structure has a place to tie a chain....but I dont think that this is a good place to be dicussing where we should keep our bikes......PM me if you wanna talk....oh yeah you gonna ride with me sometime or what?

i think a safe place is by warren/rossevent apartments,

where there is portables and a lot of TAs park their bikes their.

i think it is the safest because it is out front of an office building and they would for sure see a bikebeing put in the back of a van or truck. also there is a place to chain up there.

I don't think non-riders would think anything of a motorcycle being put in a van or a truck

Kinda off topic, but how much would a good chain run for? What brand is good?

if you are worried just get a heavy chain and park your bike over by muir and chain it to the poles. i park over by price center and have a disk lock. seems like that is the safest place if you only go to school in the morning like me. there are a ton of bikes and to much car and ped traffic to be able to stop for a period of tiem and lift a bike, if they did they would be blockin traffic. the thefts there happend at like 6-7pm when no one is around........

You use the kryptonite NY chain? Cuz that thing is heavy to lug around. Im thinking about using the kryptonite by heavy hand cuffs.

If you park at school, just leave the chain at post you leave your bike at the most. I mostly parked next to Center hall, EBU2 and Rimac.

I think that people should know that just as we can get info about good places to park our bikes...the more you say some lurkers can use this info to jack it....I honestly think that this thread is a bad idea

I've decided just to cage it. Not ready to put the double r in danger...at least danger I dont cause it directly by riding hehe.
