Well my first bike was a 2001 Suzuki Katana that I purchased in Whidbey Island Washington in April 2001. I guess it was a good starter bike for me and I learned how to ride fairly easily. Later on in summer of 2003 I got stationed back here in San Diego where the roads are a lot more technical. After a 6 month layoff (Deployment) I returned in March of 2004 and got back into the swing of things, later in May of 2004 I finally went down at Telegraph Canyon. I had a very bad highside, the bike was completely totaled, forks tweeked, tank smashed, yoshimura full system exhaust destroyed, road rash on my upper shoulder and back from wearing a textile suit. I was picked up by my wife and not only was my ego hurt but I had to endure the ride with my wife complaining and giving me grief, later I went to Balboa hospital to get checked out and sat in the waiting room for 6 hours before seen. I was given 2 morphine shots and a hour of scrubbing session then out the door. The next day I went to look at the bike and I think the main reason for the highside is because the rear tire was only a 150. After 3 weeks of healing I went and got a 97 GSXR 750 and I have learned from experience. I am now officially a track WH0rre.
The next day I went to look at the bike and I think the main reason for the highside is because the rear tire was only a 150.

is this thread to talk about first bikes? My first riding experience was in the dirt where I grew up in Norcal, but the first real bike was the one I have now. Still loving the 500R =D

Aaron, you had a Hawk? What happened to it? That was your first bike? I am dying to pick up a Hawk 650. Somebody stopped by the shop with one that still had the stock can on it and a 929 front-end. That's my dream street-fighter.

looks like someone caught the yammie bug. :squid:
^ And a Suzuki bug too. I don't love Honda, but i guess they make a fine product. If its fast and fun, ill ride it as long as its not pink.
^^ Yes, the Hawk was my first street bike. My parents were against it so i saved up for the hawk. Great bike! I really loved it, but sold it for the 93 gix 600. I loved the 600, even tho it was a pig. I have to say my favorite bike for street riding was the TLR.

'89 HD Sportster- learned to ride on this bike then realized sportbikes are sexier and faster :holymoly:
'05 FZ6- recalled for a throttle position sensor problem. So it wasn't me killing it at the light or intersection every time, just half the time :)
'06 GSR600- love this bike like no other, except for maybe my future baby daddy, Ducati:wub:
