my speedo cable came off of the vulcan. Its not reading speed and was wondering if there is any fluid that is supposed to be put in there. also my turn signals are not blinking, but they are just solid when I signal....any suggestions?

Shoulda lubed the speedo cable while it was out.

Are your winkers still not winking??? Check the bulbs first.

Then change the headlight fluid....don't go cheap...spring for the halogen fluid...

there is a lube that is supposed to be in speedo cables but not sure of what type - i dont think the problem with the blinkers (now called winkers i guess =P) could be the bulbs if they are solid on tho just m.h.o.

Any lube is better than no lube. WD-40 is fine.

Some will stay solid with a bulb out and some will flash really fast. I don't know the difference in the bike that causes the two symptoms. If the bulbs are fine, it's wiring or your flasher relay.

If the bulbs are dual filament, do both light up (running and flash)?

WD40 is not a lube... it evaporates....

Really? Soak your your tires in WD40, let it sit overnight so that all the WD40 "evaporates", then go ride Palomar tomorrow.

:-p

Really....

there's a minimal amount of petrolium in there....not enough to properly reduce friction on moving metal parts.

Dont' you clean your chain with WD40? then lube?

Why don't you test that out for us...don't use chain lube anymore...just WD40....

We'll do a side-by-side comparison between our two bikes and see who's chain lasts longer...

Hey Sean, check your ground. I just remembered, my CB750 did the same thing on one side and it was an intermittent ground due to rust on the headlight ears. Do you have 1/2/3 wire signals???

Ikazuchi, people lube their chain with WD40 all the time. It even says on the bottle for recommended uses "Lubricates.....chains". No it's not better than chain wax or a high quality lube, but like I said, it's better than nothing. I would never recommend using it for a chain lube, but speedo/throttle/clutch cables should be fine.

WTF? Bring it over. If you don't have time, just push it in my garage and I'll see what I can do. Can't guarantee I can fix it, but I won't break it and I work for free. ;)

Now I'm confused :uhh:

But if you did spray your tires with WD40 and let them sit for a couple days...I'd ride 'em

I think the armourall I spray on there now is more of a lubricant :-p
