I really want to make this my first track day. What is new rider orientation and does it take all day??? Will I get regular track time?
And will I get in the way too much since there's only two groups? I don't want to piss off anybody who has to pass me twice on each lap I take.:red:

new rider orientation is just a few laps, but you can follow a trackdaz staff member all day if you like
all you have to do is ask, they're awesome about it

New rider orientation, doesn't last all day. We've been doing this since 2000, and don't feel it needs to be ALL day. Its just sort of an introduction to riding on the track, then we take you out there (seperated from the pack) and give you a look at the track. Beyond that.. you should be ready to rock.. but we're there all day to show you around, and give pointers if you ask, or we see you're having troubles.

Tony.. If you need a ride to the Trackdaz event.. I'm sure you can just post on Trackdaz.com's online forum about needing a ride.. Surely someone from LA will be going up there.. Worse Case, I'll trailer your bike up there myself!
Sean, yeah I'm in LA. Daimond Bar area actually.
Trackpimp, thanks for the offer mang! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. ;) I'll try to find someone that can go along with me, but if all else fails.... I'll probably be hitting you up on that offer. Thanks again.

Given this is your first track day, I would go in Street Group! Its a good thing Dustin only running a two group setups. More track time. Normally he runs 3 groups. Street-beginner, Sport-Novice, and Race-Advanced. They have an orientation for all new track riders, they go over the different flags, and take everyone who hasn't been on the track before around a couple of laps in a slow pace so you get the feel of the track.

ya'll should stay at PARK PLAZA.. We used to stay in scummy little Hotels like Motel 6, and SL-EZ-8.. but after 1 night in the plaza, realized that for the extra $10.. its worth it to stay in a nicer/safer hotel.
if you stay in the Motel 6 right next to SL-EZ-8.. get a bottom room floor and roll your bikes and gas cans into the room with you.

that would be awesome. i could carry six bikes, but i think i would just end up using the bed to carry peeps gear, and just put all the bikes in the trailer, and then i would have space in my cab for the three other people...lemme know about the trailer situation or i can just call you. peace!

dude, my big ride is a 98 F-150 long bed and extended cab truck, 5.4 L V-8. i can carry two bikes in the back with a little gear or hook up the trailer and i could carry a total of 6, but that wouldnt be too good on the gas, i would get like 4 miles to the gallon! anywayz, i think if the trailer works out, im only gonna want to take 4 bikes, and put gear in the bed of the truck.

What do you think about the Hotbodies stuff? I can save almost a hundred bucks if I go with them over Catalyst.

I emailed them and since 00-01 R1's ain't in too much of a demand they would bother. Oh well, I'll go with the cheapest priced stuff right now, Hotbodies.

Talked to AK tonight, saw the molds.
They said the bodywork comes out nice. Its for the 00-01 style R1.. but its R7 replica bodywork. That means you've got to buy an R7 wind screen.. AK says they can get one from Zero Gravity for like $60..

there are currently only 10 spots available in Street, and like 18 in Race..
I do however have 2 spots unaccounted for as the person who signed up for 2 spots didn't leave which group they were riding in.

I want to!!!!! It's money that's tight. I don't think I can afford tires for it, unless somebody's unloading some take-off's. Plus I just bought a new (old) bike, so there goes more money.

expect to have the best time of your life on the bike, to get addicted, and plan on spending a lot more money on trackdays in the future...

First and foremost, take the time to learn the track. Figure out the lines of a turn, the braking points and the proper gear to be in for a turn. Don't worry about who's behind you and concentrate on what's coming up. It's up to the rider in back to make a clean, safe pass around you (if passing is allowed) so focus on the track ahead. As with street riding, don't try to keep up with others. Remember, it's a track day and not a competition. Follow your own comfortable pace and stay focused on the track and not on the person in front of you.
Here's a list of items to take for a track day:
1). Fluids - Water, soda, gatorade. Drink a lot when you're out there. It's easy to get dehydrated, especially in the heat. Even if you're not thirsty drink because when you get thirsty it's too late. You're already dehydrated.
2). Lunch and other snacks to munch on throughout the day.
3). Shade - Canopy, hat, sunscreen.
4). Chairs
5). Towels - Bugs will cloud up you're face shield. It's nice to be able to wipe them off. Towels also help to keep the seat cool. Cover them during rest periods. It's not very fun to hop on the bike for the next session and burn your butt through your leathers.
6). Tools
7). Your gear
8). Paper work for the track
Good luck and I hope you have a great time. No. I know you'll have a great time. Let us know how it goes.

WHAT!?!!? Mr One Arm Bandit! No, you ain't riding a bike for a while mang! Street group is sold out and race group fillin up pretty quickly!
Sober F4i-Lee-Captain G Force is going and its his first time to the track. Maybe you can follow him as a marker. Having someone else to dice it with at the track makes it even more worth the trip!

Thinkin how could I get some dead presidents
I need money, I used to be a stick-up kid
So I think of all the devious things I did...
I used to roll up, this is a hold up, ain't nuthin funny
Stop smiling, be still, don't nuthin move but the money"
