Well i went out and did my first expert race, no more sandbagging for me:whistle:
I showed up at 7:30am saturday morning to put in my full day of corner working. It was pretty damn boring because there were not many people practicing and no crashing. It was freezing with like 20-30 mph winds so i was not all that comfortable to say the least haha, but i got it out of the way and i was able to venture into the humbling side of expert racing.
Saturday night it rained, snowed and was damn cold in the lancaster area. We showed up to the track in the a.m. and it was windy and cold but not wet so i was not too worried. The wind kicked up for the first practice session and it was a bit difficult to deal with out there but i noticed my bike was having an extremely hard time trying to get up to speed and i had no power down the straits WTF:confused:. My bike couldn't even get up to 6th gear on the front straight and i was getting motored everywhere. I came in pretty confused and pretty bummed out, i turned some really slow laps. 2nd practice rolls around and there is like a break in the wind so i figured my bike would be better and so would i. i went out and put my head down and my bike was doing the same thing, i was just dying on the top end. I worked on riding really hard through the tight sections to try and make up for the lack of speed on the straits, but it was only good for 33's......3-4 seconds off from last month, no bueno. I pulled her in and knew my bike had something wrong with it. I had cleaned the carbs a few days before so i am thinking the carbs have a problem but nothing i could really fix then. So i sat back and enjoyed the Double BEEZ lay down the law in his first race. I decided that in my race i would try and get a good start and work to get faster in the first half of the track and just suck up the speed loss around the second half of the track. 600 super stock was race 6 and i geared up and headed out. I got off the line well...but so did everyone else haha, so i just started passing anywhere i could knowing i had nothing on the straights. I made some nice passes in 4 and 5 through out the race and just had fun out there. Crossed the line in 15th but i had a real good time out there and ran the best i could with the problems i was having.
overall i had a real good time this weekend moving up to expert and i think it is going to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed my race because i felt no pressure to finish that high and i just worked on getting faster in the tight sections of the track which i think i did, so it was a successful race nonetheless.
The biggest news of the weekend is Mr. Bengt Brakstad of course! Congrats man, you were motoring out there and gave us some exciting races to watch, i was living vicariously through you this weekend:thumbsup:  . Big thanks the Sean "you betcha" Uryu for everything(long list), Deno, Arnold, Melissa, Theresa, and Janell for all the support. So time to figure out whats up with the bike and get back to the times i can run and see where it goes from there. Til' next time:) :bringit:
