110mph top speed. this looks like a lot of fun!! i'm sure there are a few of you folks here who can break the current lap record out there on the 250. :) Looks like a lot of incentives to race too from Kawi!!!

OMG, that's a great deal! New set of tires alone are worth that much! Who is signing up for May? I would certainly consider it if some others sign up...

...at least not now anyway.
Money and Time are always a deciding factor for me.
Hey Jared, do you only get the bike for 3 laps when you rent one? Did I read their website wrong? Please clarify.
Also, do you currently have to have a race license in order to rent a 250?

from what i understand you rent the bike for the day. Either friday practice, saturday practice/new racer school, or race day. I believe its $250 a day.
"PRICING
Our bikes are all-inclusive, including machine, fuel and Bridgestone race tires. You must pay your own entry fees and gate fees.
All Ninja 250Rs are $250 per day. No discounts for multiple days.
You will be charged $250 per day times the number of reserved days upon making your reservation. A "Hold" of $1,000 will also be placed on your card upon bike pickup for damage security, so make sure you have room on your card when making your reservation. "

So pretty much $500 if you so sat pratice and the sunday race. I still think $250 to borrow someone's race bike is still a lot of chedda, but what do I know.

Why practice? Just show up on Sunday and win.

True, 15 min practice on Sun is all you need to break the record lap of 1:45.
Speaking of which, the red 250R looks pretty sick!!!

bummer is that unless you've already got your expert liscence, you're racing it in beginner 500

hey guys, i've been wanting to get into racing for years. Would this be a good way to do it? i don;'t have a license or anything and have no clue where to start. I also have an sv650 sitting in my garage not being used which i can use as a track bike if i want.

I can't think of a better way to start! You get a race prepped bike with race tires for a pretty darn good price. SV would be great too, but it would have to be race prepped (safety wiring, belly pan or full fairing, race tires, etc). For $500 you can rent the EX250 for saturday (new racer school) then race Sunday (lightweight noice).
Now, if you want to do this on a regular basis, then getting your SV prepped is probably the better way to go. I think it's the initial investment that prevents many people from getting into racing..

would that novice school get me a novice race license?
brakstad

Yes it will give you a novice race license. There is only one new racer school regardless of bike size.

I've only raced once, but this is good advice.
If you're serious about doing a few races, prep the SV. Renting a ninja would add up. Plus, you'd be stuck racing a 250 in the 500 novice class...that would suck and you'd have to do 5 (I think???) races getting minimum points before you could race in the 250 expert class. On the other hand, racing an SV in the novice 600 class is more competitive (though still underbiked).

ok. my SV isn't too off from being track ready. I guess i can just use that to do the novice school and enter a novice race. I've always wondered how fast i am pit up against other novices... :)
The only thing are the logistics, i don't have a truck so i can't tow my bike... does hypercycles have a race team i can tag along with? (sorry i have no clue)

There is not currently a Buymoto team that goes up to willow evey month. I am hoping to get something going for 09 however..
There are a ton of really cool people on this site and if you post up you have a good chance of finding another racer thats looking to split gas/lodging costs.

Hey guys, sorry been away for a while. Just been workin alot, and now it's time to play!
Couldn't wait till monday so we picked it up today. lookin forward to puttin some sticky on the wheels and puting "my boy blue" through his paces.
Greg, Arnold, Arronn(sp?) great to hear from you! definitely goin races with this guy. Gonna really consider endurance, ran it in texas for a bit and definitely way more bang for your buck. My team had three guys on it so I got two spots open, if you don't mind wringin the heck outta a 250, it's a ton of fun!
Heres a few picks.
