Hi all,
I just read the thread about cameras for motorcycles:
http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12845
Have anyone tried the GoPro Hero 3 camera?
http://www.goprocamera.com/
They look pretty neat. I'm thinking about squeezing my stomach and save up for some kind of camera / mount that will work for motorcycle and snowboarding - and perhaps on underwater stuff too. This thing looks like a good candidate. The bullet cams appear to be quite a hassle since I'd have to carry with me an actually camera as well...
If you or someone you know have tried this camera or similar ones, please let me know what you think!
Edit: Hmm... maybe buymoto can be a dealer for these gopro... :-D!!!

There's a picture of Billy using the camera at Amago. From what I recall, he loves his camera. (Not sure of the model, but I think it's the same)

they are very user friendly and can mount almost anywhere. I tried one out and found the when mounted to the bike itself it had a bit too much vibration because all the mounting brackets and extensions were plastic. The videos i have seen where people mounted them to their helmets have come out much cleaner. The quality of the footage is good resolution on the computer but not so much for DVD/TV quality. Those are just the things i found from it with the short test it did, it is a good inexpensive set up and i know a lot of motorcycles shops actually have them in stock already.

Awesome, it seems like something worth investing in...

you got a PM
I would guess that cycle gear stocks them.
If there are a few people that are interested I could look into a group buy.

I believe retail on one is $169.99 and you have to buy a memory card for it too for around $20-$30.

I bought the Gopro this weekend.
It's pretty sweet - and perfect for active hobbies! All the mounting options are great and really easy to use. The video quality is actually really clear too for a tiny little camera. I think it totally is worth the money!
However... I lost it when I left it at the beach... the wave washed it away... :(
I'd recommend this product to anyone that desire really superb / clear web quality videos for their active adventures! It'd go any where you go!

ya those things are the BOMB
very "purpose built" -meaning you get great quality as far as documenting what you're doing, for a very-near-disposable-easy-toset-up-cam-price. the rideclubbers have about 5 in our group, and I have a few for work...
for offroad we've had good results with the helmet mounted ones as well, as said before. helps to shim the slide in mount with some cardboard or similar to take any extra vibes.
i volunteer dive at the birch... :squid:
