Currently have some beat up A-Stars SMX Plus boots and looking to replace them with either these:

...or these:

Only drawback to the Sidis is according to the sizing chart I should wear a 49, which they don't make. I have 48s in the A-Stars and they fit fine...have heard the Sidis fit somewhat different though.

I know the geenral answer is "whatever fits best", but looking for thoughts/experience on quality and/or other suggestions??

I've heard some good feedback on the Sidi's both in comfort and in protection. If you're not entirely dead-set on the Vertigo Airs, the Vertigos come in a 49, but you'll lose the perforation. With Sidi (boots) and Spidi (suits, jackets, gloves, etc), there is no exchange fee if you're getting a different size of the same boot, so if you like, we can order you a 48 Vertigo Air, and if it's too small, we can get you a 49 Vertigo without an exchange/restock fee. We currently have our Sidi boots discounted, so PM me for a price.
I can give you a good deal on the Alpinestars as well and check availability for you too.

Given I had both, I prefer the Alpinestar Supertechs b/c of the comfort!

The Sidi's are nice but I didn't like how the part of the inner boot always caught on my heel guard.

One thing to note on the Alpine stars boot. I tend to find that the toe slider is not far enuff up on the boot. i.e. I drug a toe thru turn 2 at willow once and it went thru the slider and thru the fiberglass casing inside the boot. The Sidi boots do not have this shortcoming. I am sure that this is a problem with only some riders, depending on how you position your foot. I also like that for the toe slider i have a choise of plastic. ceramic, or metal (works best imho and does not spark much).

Its really a personal decision, and I find both to be very comfortable.

I would always go Sidi after my experiences with SMX Plus from '05 or '06 and my current pair of Vertigo Corsas. Massively more comfortable to walk with, much more protection, and the toe box isn't 2 inches tall.

Thanks Matt and BuyMoto crew....I found a 48 Corsa Air at a local dealership, so I'm gonna stop by and try them on while on the way home. I'll give you guys a call.

Yeah, I have the same problem with my 05 A-Stars SMX plus boots now...thought it was just because I have big a*s feet.

+1 for Sidi, Ryan. Nicer on AND off the bike...crash tested by me...less stiff...overall better fit and finish...parts are replaceable...plus it's Italian.

I now use Sidi cycling shoes for the same reason.

Yeah, I have Sidi Dominator 5 Mountain Bike shoes as well and love em...too bad they don't make them in my size for Moto. Had to "settle" for the A-Stars Supertech R's.
