So to help out a lady...I have to clip my bangs back because otherwise I look crazy when I am done (enter in funny comments here) and since my hair is shorter I leave it with no ponytail. I know when I use to have long hair I used to pull it back into a low pony tail and then like every 3-4 inches I would use another hair tie. Hopefully it makes some sense...

I don't have that problem anymore...the clippers took care of that. My hair used to get all tangled and nappy, didn't really worry about it too much, but then again working in a motorcycle shop vs. a cubicle-farm, I don't have to worry about my hair looking purty.
I've known a lot of girls to use the ponytail wrap or a bunch of hair-ties...this is one of those times when you can learn a thing or two from the cruiser riders. So many of them have long hair.

Okay okay, just joking around. Good luck with the hair. If I'm going to be riding all day and I'm feeling particularly girly that day I'll bring a hat with me, but usually I just don't G.A.F.

The pony tail is an easy fix, but the top of your head is another story. Different helmets leave different patterns on your head. I think the more ventilated a helmet is the more it's going to give you the corn-row type waves. Maybe look at cheaper, less-ventilated helmets for commuting.

SO seriously I have had lots of hair issues as my hair used to be really really long.
If its long the low bun works wonders BECAUSE when you take it out you dont have crimp [pony tail holder] marks, its just nice loose curls

my hair is shorter now...
but for the bangs I usually bobbi pin them to the side, or better yet if do able kinda brush them to the side before putting the helmet on

When my hair was long I wore a long leather hair wrap. It worked out pretty well and you can get it in any length that you need. Mine was about 8 inches long. Worked great.
