I posted this in another forum, and noticed it has been extremely quiet around here, so I thought I would post my race report here.

Race Report – Round 9

Well, I went up to the track Saturday morning and arrived about noon. My goal was to try and get in the last 2 practice sessions and do practice starts. For my first practice session, I immediately felt comfortable on my bike and was able to do a 1:31.5. For my second practice session I was able to pull a 1:30.3, not bad considering my rear tire was toast. Felt pretty good for the day, so we went and had a several beers that night with my buddy John who came up to help me out.

So for race day, I run the practice sessions on my old tires and still feel okay, by this time though, they are sliding quite a bit. I change out my tires and watch BB race, along with some of the other races. I am race 14, and am gridded 3rd. I get a decent start and am third going into T1, and quickly pass 2nd place going into T2 and see that I have a little work ahead of me. First place, 701 is almost 1.5 seconds in front. I have a decent first lap and in lap 2 can see that I am catching up to 1st place, especially in T2. Of course I make a mistake going over 6 and get passed, am now in 3rd place but am determined to get that spot back and not lose sight of first place. In lap 3, I pass 2nd place going into T1 and set off for 1st. I definitely notice that I make up a bunch of time on him in T2, and by the time we are out of T9, I am on his tail. In lap 4, I am able to make the pass around the outside of T2 and take the lead! Of course I suck even more when I don’t have someone to follow around, so I inexplicably brake early for T1 going into lap 7, at the 4 markers and get passed easily. I follow closely behind in 2nd place for lap 7, showing him a wheel in T2 and come around for the last lap. Going into T1, there is more lap traffic, which we started seeing in Lap 6, and I go around the lapper really close on the outside of T1. I show first place another wheel in T2, and almost pass him, but couldn’t make it stick as I was going really wide and try to out brake him into T3, I back off, it would have been messy, and let him go. As we go over T6, we come upon lap traffic again and he takes the inside line while I go on the outside, over the hill and into T7. Coming out of T8, I stay on the throttle a bit longer and pull up alongside him, as we turn it into T9, I see he is going to pinch me off so I back off a bit and notice that I am going to pinch off T9 a little too much. I adjust my line, which kills my drive and I lose, I mean come in 2nd.

It was a good race, and I really, really wanted to win, but oh well. I ran a best time of 1:29.9, which feels good, but I felt I would have went faster, but the wind felt like it was blowing its strongest for my race, when it was ideal for most of the day. Thanks again to John for coming out and helping me on Saturday, and a big thanks to Jason, Carol, Deno, and BB for the help and support! On to expert now to ride with the big boys...

Who is in for round 10?

Thanks all for the kind words. It makes me kinda sad seeing all the crap on here, and I do miss posting on here. I don't ever expect things to be the same, but getting back to basics and posting about bikes, and sharing our experiences, whatever they may be can bring some semblance of normalcy back.

I do wish all of us could ride together again. Racing would totally be fun, but I really understand the kind of commitment it takes to do so. On that note, I never, ever really thought I would be doing the things I would be doing, especially considering that this was only my 4th race, but with the support that everyone has given me, it made it not only possible, but really fun and enjoyable.

I don't know what racing in expert will bring, but I hopefully it will continue to be fun :).

It can get back to the way it was if people swallow thier egos. I can admit I have been an a$$hole, but there are things behind the scenes that have been done that I don't think are right, and I'm not going to air dirty laundry. Whats done is done and we all need to move forward.

I don't have a problem with anyone even tho that is not what opinion is. I really want to club to come together and be what we were before, and that includes EVERYONE. I'm not a mod here FYI, but I understand both sides and they both have merit. Like I said in another post we should all try to somehow get together (BBQ, whatever), and just let bygones be bygones.

Sorry for the thread jack Allan, congrats on an awesome race and good on ya for posting it up!

Well said Allan. Even though I'm not "OG" or whatever, I've been around for over 4 years and have seen the best and now the worst state of this community. Like you said, its sad. Its unfortunate that other new riders won't get to experience the same things I did when I started out riding and became part of this community. Bottom line, it would be great to see this group put all the bullsh*t aside and get back to where it needs to be.

Sounds like you're doing well bro. Keep up the good work!

Gonna go crawl back in my hole now...

I hear ya Allan! To all go out, ride the track, walk the pits, take some pics, chit-chat amongst other riders always brought for some very awesome memories.

I haven't been back on the track since Nov '07 and I miss it a lot, especially Willow and Buttonwillow. Though I wasn't the fastest of the bunch, just being on the track with buddies made up for every session.

The joy of coming back into the pit, parking your bike, pulling off your helmet and then start conversating about the previous session was so much fun. Each time always ended in a different story

I got to admit, after seeing the reveiling of the 09 ZX6R, the mind is definitely starting to wander again.

Whatever drama happened is already said and done. It's time for all of us to move on and forget about the past, I mean EVERYONE!!!
