to keep dust/dirt from settling on the paint while it is drying - thats just about the most important part
If ya could get a few pics of it at different angles I could see about photochop'in it up

Do it yourself, I did. It aint as hard as some people might think. You just got to have the right tools and equipment.

dope...so can you give me a whole rundown of steps and costs?
DiegosAnotherR1

yeah.
1. I got a aircompressor for free from my uncle. use at least a 60 gal compressor if you dont want to wait for the motor to keep pumping air into the tank. you should keep a constant psi when painting. if you aint got a aircompressor, try finding a place that rents them.
2. I bought a cheap paint gun from Lowes. I think it was like 50 bucks. it came with a gun, touch up gun, airbrush, and misc hardware.
3. I got paint from tricity. paint cost vary from color to color. the yamaha blue was about 40 bucks for a pint.
4. sand paper(400, 600, 1000, 2000grit), masking tape, mixing cups, tack cloth, etc.... i paid about 75-100 bucks
5. anglegrinder, or one of those professional polishers to polish after wetsanding....luckly my cousin got one, but you can proably rent one.
6. stands to hold your plastics while painting them....you dont want to lay them on the ground. you can make them out of wood or pvc pipes, or whatever.
make sure you wet the ground to avoid dust from rising off the ground when you paint. make sure you prep everything perfect before painting, cause every little imperfection will show through.
if i can think of anything else...i'll post again...or if you got questions just ask. its not that hard....just time consuming, specialy when your doing alot of masking to make a certian scheme.

yeah and how about with one hand?
DiegosAnotherR1

o'yeah. i think i spent a total of about 300 for paint(paint, primer, clearcoat, reducer, hardener), materials(sand paper, tack cloth, maskingtape), tools(just the paint gun. i had everything else).
o'yeah...if you dont want to do it yourself...there is a place i think in escondido, or somewhere around there that does race schemes. i think they might of changed there name...but it was called Chad's paint and polish. they painted alot of the race bikes you see in the AMA races.

Hey Jeff, is that's Rich's kevlar tail? Or is that the carbon fiber one you had a while back? Dood, if I get some paint from Tri city, can I use your air gun and comp to paint my race fairings?

get everything painted by a shop for $200 - any other colors you want do with stickers - powercoat the rims for about $100
seems a lot easier than doing it yourself for about the same cost.
I got my race plastics painted for $100 . . but I know a guy ;)

Yeah, a lot of us ride Palomar, Telegraph, Sunrise, Willow Springs, Button Willow, etc. It's like we're one big az DISFUNCTIONAL family! :-p j/k
Jeff, does Tri City have the actual Yamaha blue or do they have to custom mix it to match Yamaha Blue. Because Robert at Graphic Art has the exact paint code and it's like 3 different colors mixed together!

Yeah Jason, Jeff's paint scheme is kind of like the Dynomite R1.
**Jeff-my friend N8 has a 3/4 hp compressor and nice garage. He even has most of the stuff to prep it. Let me know if I can borrow your paint gun.
