Hi everyone new here, just hit my first 500 miles and need to do a service and I've been shopping around but don't know exactly what I need to look for... what do I really need to do after the break in? as far as oil change and stuff.. Lee's suggested I do reseat the valves and oil change, but it's going to cost me $270... is this too much? help

I thought the 500-600 mile service was just an overpriced oil change!?! But if Lee's mention about reseating the valves, then I must be wrong.

I just changed the oil at 600 miles.

I went in for a full service at 3,000 miles at Crago Racing (http://www.cragoracing.com/) (sorry, it's all the way up in Van Nuys). It was not necessary, but it gave me peace of mind as a newbie rider at the time who was totally unfamiliar with my bike... well, all bikes in general. It cost me $200. They checked the valves -- all was within spec. Also did the following (most of which I know they did): replace coolant; replace oil & filter; check engine bolts; tighten steering head (R6's are notorious for this, apparently); change brake fluid (I know they did this because they also installed braided brake lines).

I also spent some time talking about recommended tire pressures, next time I will need to check the valves, how often I should check the steering (needs a little tightening now, actually), and various other things.

So all I really need is an oil change? and have them inspect everything and tighten the chain?

Just change the oil/filter and lube the chain. Also, make sure the cables are okay and tighten all the bolts you can find. That's all you really need to do.

Exactly what Allen said. Dont go paying Lees hundreds of bucks for something you can do in about an hour or less. ;) Use that money to get a Chatterbox from BuyMoto. :D
