WooHoo!!! Ok, just a warning this post is gonna be kinda long, but this was by far my favorite trackday ever and gotta give a big thanks to Dustin (Trackpimp) for putting on such great track day events!
Started out great, actually got on the road right when we planned too(first time ever) and made it there in like three hours! My new truck tows three bikes with ease (had her doing over 90 a couple times trying to catch jigga man…)! Got to Park plaza, had a few drinks with the crew…fun times hanging out with everyone: Pulse, afrothunder, Matrixchick, JIGGAMAN, TomSV650, Shady, Hunter, Lost, SD-Gix, Trackpimp himself and all those other dudes who I have no clue now what your name was…
Woke up at 4:00, couldn’t go back to sleep, luckily everyone else in the room was awake too! Got to the track early to find some freezing cold strong wind blowing across the track..sucks..headed out first session and let the fun begin. Gave the new tires a couple laps to warm and scrub in before I pounded em, but was back in my groove passing everywhere by the end of the first session. The tires I was running, Bridgestone 002’s in a med/med compound, where actually pretty nice, but they aren’t 208 gp’s for sure, took some suspension adjustments and dropping the front 5mm before I was happy but got right back down to running in the 24’s in the third session. These tires are nice but I just didn’t have the feel in the front I needed to push any harder. With gp’s I always feel I can go faster, with these I always felt I was right on the edge…
Unfortunately there were a LOT of crashes out there and held up a few sessions. But overall the Trackdaz crew did an awesome job to clear the track super fast and get us back out there. Had a blast dicing it up with jiggaman and Pulse, Arnold was looking damn fast and smooth out there also, and what can I say about Mr. LV_styles! Luis, you where blazin out there man, mad props for your second trackday (he was running 30’s with ease)
By the most fun I ever had was in the last session of the day for me, I headed out behind a group of 5 of the fast guys out there, lead by one Super fast guy Pete Pham. I managed to get past one rider on the third lap, then noticed that Pete was gapping us out front and I really wanted to follow him around If I could and pick up some pointers from a fast guy. I got a great drive off the skidpad, drafted two 600rr’s down the straight, hit 1 wide open in 5th and just drove up the outside of two, braking super late, had the back end wiggling everywhere threw my baby into two around the outside and managed to pass both 600rr’s and another kawi going down into 3! Took a couple laps of hard riding to close the gap to Pete and then the fun began. Sorry to those of you that we passed but we were splitting people left and right dicing it out. My favorite memory was going into 7 just before the bowl there where two other rider next to eachother, Pete went tight to the inside and got held up, I went way wide around the outside, four wide in 7! Managed to get past all three riders and then had to huck her into the bowl with huge lean angle! Couple laps later Pete showed me a front wheel going into two and I had to stay wide, back behind him I late braked him the next lap into two and he let me by, even waved as I passed! Then her got back past me on the straight and pitted in. That group of laps was by far the most fun I’ve ever had on my bike. Gotta thank you again Pete for the great battle, just wish the camera had been working….
As for the camera I had the bullet cam mounted low looking past the front tire in the third session and It seems I was carring way more lean angle than normal cause it dragged a few times and got ripped off the bike! No more pen cam action for a while…Anyone wanna donate me a new bullet cam??????
Allright, this really is long, gotta thank Trackpimp and his staff again, Pete for owning me, the whole crew, Carlos for taking pics, and Stroble for bringing out the barbeque! So whens the next trackday?
