Hey all,

While putting my carbs and airbox back on my 1999 R6, I ran into a small problem. I am trying to figure out the routing directions for this particular hose (circled in picture). It is not in the manual because it is part of the CA only air induction system. Any of you R6 riders mechanically familiar with your bikes, can you help me with this?

Lee's Cycle can take that stuff out if you're unclear as to how to do it yourself.

Parts catalog isn't much help, either. :(

I think it would go to your airbox. If not there, look around your carbs for a t-connector. I don't know specifically about the Yammi's, but those are designed to pull fresh air into the exhaust flow. Yeah dude, chunk it. I did it to mine and routed it to the crankcase breather. It creates a vacuum in the crankcase and there's possible HP gains. Man I needed that extra .5 hp, too. This bike is nowhere near fast enough. :jackoff:

Yeah I took a look at the parts catalog as well but of course doesnt show where it goes.

mphamzx7r, I think we might be talking about the same thing. Right now I have it going up on the left side of the engine, across the top of the valve cover, and up through the heat protector plate into the air box. I think this is how its supposed to go, but I'm worried that maybe it shouldnt be sitting on top of the valve cover, with no protection. Should this be a problem?

If you want, i can show you what i did with my engine to remove all the CA emmissions stuff. THat hose, the cylindrical canister it is attached to and those "strange" metal pipes coming out of your engine can all be tossed... all you will need are 4 block off plates and you are set.

Bodmaster, that would be greatly appreciated!:D It seems the unanimous opinion of the people here is that they are useless anyway. Besides, more power is always welcome here :) . If you could provide some pictures that would be great or if you wanna call me this weekend with details, I'll be working on it this Friday, that would work too. Shoot, if you wanted to come over and help me out with some other stuff I'm working on on my R6, I can provide some beer and snacks. If anyone else for that matter wants to help a brother out, I would be forever in your debt. Heres my number: (cell) 858-336-2018.

Yeah what Bryant said. I think it's there primarily to allow air into the exhaust for emissions... Toss it....Let me know what day you guys are gonna work on it and i'll try and stop by.

Can you show me what you did to take off the emissions stuff? I'm gonna be working on my bike later today so if you're not busy you can call me at the number I listed earlier in this thread. Thanks.
