My name is Jay also known as Sikdo. Well On 6.12.04 I went ahead and took the easy ride and took tarantado from Hypercycles. Well every thing went good and every body had fun, it was a good learning experience for rookies and vets. One thing that I did not like was at the top of polamar 2 of our members took off and started racing and the only reason i did not take off with them is because I did not want any body to bad mouth me. And I was watching out for MArk. When we got to the top to the cafe I was talk to by one of the members, that I was following, telling me that I don't know the roads and I should watch out, and riding without mirror's was dangerous. Yes I know that it is dangerous to you but to me it has a lot to do with safety. After addresing that I know the roads and I've been riding for 3 years and on my 4th bike, I was talk to as if I was stupid. I have told this member that I know polamar like the back of my hand. I just did not like the fact that I was talk to like I do not know what I'm doing. The only reason I came on this ride was to watch some of the rookies that never took this route and as well as the vets that never took this route. I did not like the fact that two members took off racing ,and I get talk to about safety and I did not take off. When riding in groups I believe every rider knows thier limits. Don't judge people, and how far they can push thier selfs. Giving advice is one thing. Besides the fact of my self getting madd, I believe every one had a good time. If you guy's wondering what bike I ride it's the yellow RR Sikdo. Well that's my story. By the way watch out what you say to other riders never asume that you are faster then another you may be surprise how much faster they are then you. It's all about having fun and learning new things from other riders.

Jay don't take that stuff the wrong way. What happens is basically Sean starts an Easy Company ride, and it is basically his ride to control, now we all KNOW that if your wanting to ride quick, this is not the ride to be on. When we meet in the morning on an Easy Company ride, Sean is assuming that basically every person he has not seen ride is a noob. He is taking responsibility for the group, and it's his ride he is leading, so it's up to him who can go ahead and who follows the lead. I could tell in the morning that the way they grouped me they thought I was noob as well, although I have several years of experience under my belt, it was their ride and I wasn't there to try to prove to them what I CAN do on a bike, I was there to just chill and cruise on some good roads.
Bottom line is Sean didn't single you out or judge you, there was alot of people on the ride and if he didn't know you (like me) he has to err on the side of safety and not test your skills. Again, his ride, he is in charge of it. He knew Millan and Shichyea and has seen them ride and it was cool if they wanted to go ahead. Had you had time once we got to the top you could have headed down the tight side for some runs if you wanted to, some of the vets were doing that.
Anyway don't sweat it dude. I assume everyone riding around me is noob until I see them ride a while. Much less surprises that way. Oh and tell Mark I said hey, he was riding good.

Just because he is concerned about your safety you think he is assuming he is faster than you? How did you come to that assertion? It was supposed to be a Easy Company Ride, wasn't it? Why do you have to come on here and taunt someone about how surprisingly fast you are? If you think you are faster than come out and say it, than take it to the track. It sounds like you felt you had something to prove and wasn't allowed to, if I am wrong then sorry. Otherwise you should have PMd the person you had a problem with than come on here and air it out.

Jay, I understand your frustration, but Sean was just looking out for you and others. Palomar is his stomping grounds. And when a member here @ Hypercycles organizes an Easy Company Ride or any ride of some sort, he/she feels obligated to look out after each and every person in that group ride whether they are Noob or Vet. He's put together so many group rides and there where times when someone crashed by getting too caught up into themselves and he is often the one left waiting for help to arrive. So when a group ride usually ends at Palomar, everyone is pretty much on their own and that his time and everybody's time to not worry about anybody, anything. . .just him and his SCREWZUKI!
**Just because you have 3 yrs riding experience, 4 bikes in the closet and know Palomar like the back of your hand doesn't mean you have a lesser chance of crashing. Any minor mistake can have you in the bushes!**
So Jay, I wouldn't sweat the small stuff!

Sorry, if I offended you Jay, I apologize. I wasn't aware that you have had a few years experience under your belt and that you have had so many bike. I made the poor assumption that you were on the ride to learn the roads and that you had not been on them, or several times for that matter. The only reason that I had talked to you, was because going up fast side you kept turning around to see mark, and in the process I saw you cross double yellows twice. Under the assumption that you were on this road for the first time, I was concerned with you looking back numerous times to see your friend behind you. Crossing double yellows while not looking in my own opinion was a potential danger to some of the other riders behind and that was my only concern.
Earlier in the ride, I stated that we would be going at a pace slower than most of you would ride and that the point was to enjoy the roads and get more familiar with them. I also talked about spacing eachother out, and I was concerned when you were following me so close. Regardless of how well you know the road, I feel that you gotta give the person some room, cause its very hard to know how a person is going to react in certain roads, turns, or when unexpected debris comes up. You looked very comfortable and from my standpoint you were doing great regardless of experience. Had I known that you were so seasoned I wish that you would have said something so you just could have gone ahead. Carlos and Millan went ahead and were bby no means racing eachother. They went ahead and I knew about it, but my concern was with trying to find a pace with everyone else that was comfortable.
Once again I apologize if I made you feel stupid, it was not meant that way at all. I was only concerned with you looking back and veering into the other lane.
I think that this miscommunication could have been avoided if you posted your attendance and informed us of your experience.
Great ride to everyone who came, I thought all went well, no crashes and no surprises....except for the squirrel:eek:

Sean, i think your just the father figure and want to make sure everyone stays safe. i am glad your my friend and your there to help others with things and lines that others don't know about. i know i hate being told that i have done something wrong when i know what i am talking about, like how i get talked to at work by old people, but everyone takes things in different ways.

Well I guess I kind of took things the wrong way. I'm a hard ass when it comes to riding. I guess I don't like people to tell me how to ride and if I was concern about Mark I should of let him ride in front of me because looking back is dangerous. I appriciate the looking out.. All you guy's are cool and are not big headed like most of the riders I'm use to riding with. It just take a little time to know one another and I know sean you where just looking out for me. Well hope we could all ride some times agian, and tell then whats up wid you. Sikdo

4. Mr. Stroble, thank you for the SLOW-PACED ride we had on the "fast-side" of Paly. Very kind of you to wait for senior citizens like myself.

IMO, I'd rather have people UNDERESTIMATE my skills and ability than have them OVERESTIMATE it and then eating crow. Even with people you've ridden before and knew well, they could be having a bad day or their bike acting up. For those that's been riding awhile, you didn't last this long by being totally reckless. People that want to prove they're top dog should take it to the tracks.
I wouldn't dwell on it. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum Jay, and thanks Sean!
And Greg, sorry for snapping the Carlos group shot 2 seconds too late. :-p
