Just registered a little bit ago and wanted to say Hi. I'm also on the SoCalRider "bored" - same name.
My names Jake and I'm 21 and ride a 94 CBR 600 F2. I've been up to Mira Mesa a couple of weeks now, LOL... Big Thanks to Kenneth for the Pop Start advice and help 2 weeks ago in Mission when my battery died.

Just wanted to say whats up...

only riding about 2 monthes now.
still getting used to my bike and working on it too...
I'm planning on doing a 520 15/45 conversion. right now its 530 15/43 - or maybe a 520 14/43. I still dunno.
I already hacked the back off and got an integrator and my Michelin Pilots should be coming in pretty soon... thanks to ebay!

I'm already keeping up with most F4i's but I'm shooting for the new 600 R's. Last Thursday I got a GSXR 600 on the Freeway twice. :nutkick: Loved every minute of it, until I hit a little concrete split and my front wheel started bucking at 120.
Rode it out, pinched myself a couple of times and rode home... could have been a lot worse. to say the least.

But back to the topic... I've only been riding for about 2 monthes now. And yeah I love my F2, its a great first bike and I'm glad I got it. If anyone ever wants to go for a spin hit me up. I'm trying to lay off the weekend rides because last time I went out with the Red Hot Riders and the ride was marred by a death and tickets. Just not my idea of a good time.

Be safe everyone and say whats up if ya see me. I'm always more than happy to meet people that ride!

Oh yeah. BTW CBR250 I don't know if you know Scott or not from the SoCal board, but he's a buddy of mine that has a 91 400rr. Really clean bike. Ohlins Rear, race Tech Front, Wave Rotors, Polished Everything, Pilot H2's.
Thought you might like to know....

first let me say hello and its good to have you here.

now let me say that you have a lot to learn, i mean you 'got' a gxsr600 on the freeway?

what does that mean, i mean stright line speed means nothing, i mean there isnt a bike out there without heavymods right now that could take my rr in stright line speed, but i mean i dont mention my "catches on the freeway"

also ive been passed by an rs 250 and motards in the cannyons.

my point is, that we al understand the joy of riding, and all the first experiences on a bike, but you really need to rethink your priorities before you get yourself in trouble.

you mention beating other bikes, but never mention the skills you are trying to work on or get help with to acheive that.

riding is something that has a direct correlation between seat time and the proper reaction in a panic sistuation.

i cant count how many nobies loose the front end for going into a corner too hot and grabbing a fist full of breaks, they learn, then the progress and become a better rider if the can still ride.

so here is the lesson

----------------------------

someone on a smaller bike will be faster than you
someone will always have a faster bike

and you start out with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience, the goal is to fill the bag of experience before you use up all your luck.

so make it last

------

and i really am glad to have you here and am not trying to sound like a ****, but ive said the same things you have and can now see how stupid i was

kc1717 I thank you very much for taking the time to write that to me. I appreciate it.
I know what you mean about the whole "canyon" deal. On one of my first rides I was on my way down Telegraph with a buddy nad we stopped at the Mobil. Two guys one on a F4i and another on an r6 tagged along when we fueled up. We got out on Telegraph going down to Otay and the guy on the r6 was doing wheelies most the way down. I was pretty intimidated to say the least.
But funny enough once we got into the twisties I didnt see him until a minute or so after me and my buddy pulled over by the 94 T.
I watched one dude I met on the SoCal site dump his bike 2 weeks in a row, A bad car accident on Telegrapgh, hauling ass around the third right... had good braking reaction for that one. And the ride 2 weeks ago where Michael Kennedy passed away.
Valuable lessons to say the least...

seems like you have a good attitude and are willing to learn...

so let go riding :)

you should make the next easy company ride, they are always filled with people willing to take the time and help people with their riding.

i usually go up to palomar sat or sunday, and both if i can sneek away from the woman, and your more than welcome to go along.

palomar is a great place, but demands more respect that any rode ive ever been on, so if you do go, we will go with the intention of taking it at a painfully slow pace a few time till you become familiar with the turns and the type of sneeky decreasing radius turns that cause the most crashes.

so welcome, and i cant wait to go riding

Scraped Peg up the fastside my first time up. The tight side I've only been down once. Need to go up still...
I will get a hold of you as soon as I replace my gaskets, have a little oil leak right now. Hopefully I'll have my Pilots in too... I can't wait for those!

Thanks for the kind words to everyone!

one tip if you wanna start hitting up palomar: get rearset risers. stock location of those pegs will limit your learning.
