I haven't taken this course myself, but I did hear that most people get something worthwhile out of the course making them better/safer riders.
Experienced RiderCourses
One day course
Use your own motorcycle and helmet
Qualifies graduates for insurance premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers.
Even if you've been riding for some time, there's always something new to learn. Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the seven-hour Experienced RiderCourse to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills needed for survival in traffic.
In the classroom you'll discuss with your peers how to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. The 'Experienced RiderCourse' also covers protective gear, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection and care, the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding, and an optional skill evaluation and knowledge test.
Using your own motorcycle, you'll put into practice the techniques of managing traction, controlling rear-wheel skids, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving.

I was talking to the instructor the other day and the advanced course is the same as the beginners course but with your own bike.
I hope that answers your question.

it's not the same course. the same techniques are used, just more advanced skills.
and yes, you use you own bike.
i've heard rumors that SOME of the civilian sites sort of breeze throught the material. if you go you're obviously paying for it , get your money's worth out of it

I was reading motorcycle consumer news and apparantly there are some issues with the instruction and how the whole organization is being managed. Don't know many details but from what I can remember there isn't much effort in *some* of the testing centers to actually teach students and no effort being put into changing the curriculem. On the plus side you might get an insurance discount and you might get something out of it.

nothin on the web page might have to call them. I can't see it costing as much since it's your bike and one day.

Just another option...
I've heard good things about the Pacific Safety Council...I'll be taking their Basic Rider Course in about a month. They offer an Experienced Rider Course, too ($75)... http://www.saferide4u.com/registration.html
I took my basic class w/ PSC back in december. They're pretty good. class size was around 15 and 2. i had never ridden a bike, or driven anything manual, ever, but they taught me pretty fast.

Its a good class, I took my up at Leeward Community College in Hawaii. Almost took out a picnic bench! Plus its required if you're military!

I agree.
To those thinking of doing MSF ERC, take it! It's a lot of fun and it's much better than BRC.
Get with Wanderer (Darrin) if youre in the military....very cool guy, always willing to help and pass on the knowledge to other riders.
