Palomar Warning ! ! !

Got this from the Red Hot Riders newsletter this morning,

" Reports from a BMWOCSD club member via Fran Del Santo - ( the Motorcycle Safety gal) - someone is oiling down the roads up to and around Palomar Mountain - both the fast side and the tight side- CHP and CalTrans are aware of the situation- they're spreading oil sorb and sand to soak up the oil - but that stuff is NOT MC friendly - be careful if you are going up to "Mothers" - the oil is being placed at corner entrances after straight aways ( this person knows how to ruin your day!) - CHP is also getting increased complaints from residents of the mountain - Helicopter patrols and citations are on the rise in that area."

do we as cyclist really ruin those peoples days? why would someone do that man, thats just wrong. i hope they find out who is doing the oiling and arrest them for attempted murder, cuz they are planning to kill someone. so not cool, but thanks for the heads up dude.

I was up at Palomar this past weekend on Sunday. Roads were clean but people up top were talking about spots where you could see the marks from the oil-sorb in some corners. I also heard about some squids kicking car doors on cars that wouldn't pull over to let them by contributing to the extra police presence lately.

Always a good idea to take it easy on that first run up unless someone at the bottom can confirm a clean road. Ride safe guys!
