View Full Version : Some Hot Cars From LA Auto Show
Aston Martin DB9... with stunned kid
Have more, but just posted the ones I thought were damned sweet. IMO, the cars that were just stunning (without regard to price) were the Carrera GT, GT40, and the C6 vette.

I love that GT40! It's performance numbers are off the charts!

Sweet pictures Jae! It must have been a blast. I'm keen on the new 05' Mustang. I think Ford did a good job on this one.
Did you get chance to see any of the prototypes? Just wondering if you got to see the Jeep Rescue, the Ford Bronco prototype or the Toyota full size V8 hybrid pick-up?

Mach 1 - they styled the '05 off the late 60s/early 70s fastback.
Jae - what's with the back wheel well on the 360 spider? Is that a wierd shadow? Looks like a big square cut!
*Edit - Nevermind - it is the shadow from the specs card stand

I was up there on the Jan 3rd. I could of went to the one in San Diego, but I like the LA one better. I looked all over for the new 2005 Mustang, but didn't see it. I did see a new R1 on the back of a pick up though ( I think Toyota). Nice! I got more excited looking at that than the cars! LOL:lol:

Too bad Ford didn't shoe on the rims and tires that the 2005 Mustang had on the cover or Car and Driver. :( But all in all, this Mustang is definitely going into the books!
I really like the retro look of the mustang too. Much better than the Thunderbird IMO. But the only problem with retro is that when you first get the car, the look is 'fresh' because it is a new car with styling from the past. But 10 years later, it'll just be an old car that looks older... But the interior is MUCH improved and very stylish.
Bryant and I went looking at the full-size pickups from Nissan, Ford, Chevy, and Dodge. I didn't get to look at the Tundra. But from what we've seen so far, Ford and Nissan have winners this year.

Very true indeed Jae, the 2005 Mustang is definitely going to be a classic 20 yrs from now. This is the first frame change since the introduction of the Mustang.
I think I'm gonna pick me up a F-150! I don't care if it's a domestic and it stands for F-ound O-n R-oad D-ead! They just so tough lifted!

Those are the rims from the cover of C&D - at least this month's issue. The rims on the concept car (if that's what you'er thinking of - I think they were 19s or 20s) look waaaay better.

Just don't bump into anything. Consumer Reports sez that a 10mph impact to the front bumber will cause $5K in damage!
I really like the new Nissan Titan - looks awesome. I just can't justify getting another full-size truck. I liked the Chevy Colorado Crew Cab - but the new Chevy front ends bug me....ugh. The rims need to go as well.

Having owned Fords all my life, except for my Ram, all I can say is that Ford sucks! Good luck if you get the new F-150, maybe they finally built a vehicle that will not have significant problems down the road...
The new Nissan trucks look tough :).

That was me talking about the Colorado. I like the size and the concept (of the quad cab) ...but don't like the looks of the new chevy font ends. And I'm not sure how good an I5 would be able to pull either.
I love my Silverado...tons of power...but right now I'm looking for something a little more practical...$35-$40 every 380 miles is a bit much for gas.
The latest Car & Driver has a comparison of 4 door pickups. The Titan came out on top....Chevy was last. The new ones don't make as much power and the dash looks the same as my '98.
C&D rated the trucks:
1) Nissan
2) Ford
3) Dodge
4) Toyota
5) Chevy

Yeah, I'm in the market for a new truck, but for how much I would to get a full size truck, it just deems far near unpractical. The Colorado is supposed to replace the S-10. The front looks like the Silverado, but you're right about the I-5 engine. Brand new technology! I think it's best to wait a couple of years to see how that engine holds up. Even with Mazada's Rotory engine, Mazada tried to change the 4 stroke with their Rotory Design. Yeah it makes a lot of power but how efficient is it. I was checking out Nissan's Titan. I beat all it's competitors hands down. That's very good especially for it's first year in production.

I wouldn't be worried about the reliability of the I5...Chevy knows how to make an engine. I'd want to test drive it...and try loading it first to see how it does.
The rotary makes good HP...but little torque. Hense the piss-poor 0-60 times on the RX8. And we'll see if they have the same seal problems as the RX7 soon enough.
I REALLY like the Titan...I should go check one out for the hell of it. I like the tie-down system in the bed. Sweeeet!

Oh you're talking about the hauling power of an I-5! 220hp isn't bad for a midsized truck. Yeah if the 13B in the RX-7 was a P.O.S at 70K! And that's if you didn't mod it. The 20B is supposed to be a better version for the RX-7. But yeah we'll have to wait and see when a RX-8 gets up there in terms of high milage how it holds up. BTW, my friend works at Mossy Nissan in Oceanside, so he might be able to hook it up on a Titan.

Haha...all this talk about the Titan has got me going to the Mossy Nissan in Kearny Mesa after work. Want to check it out.

Yep, If the Titan had been out when I got my Ram, I would have got that instead. I totally feel you when it comes to gas mileage, it is a killer.
