Can anyone tell me any good places to ride starting from Mira Mesa? We rode down the 805S to Telegraph Canyon/Otay Lakes Road and back up the 94 to the 125 and 52 today. Wasnt too bad of a ride but started to get cold when the sun started going down.

i moved this over here....
when you get tot he end of otay lakes..make a right instead to go towards Campo...from there when you get to the gas station..just make a left..that takes you to the 8 freeway...go westbound to Sunrise highway....
Sunrise is nice and relaxing....that takes you to Julian
take 79 to Santa Ysabel to go to either Mesa Grande..( not for faint hearted) or straight to fast side of Palomar OR instead of forementioned ride..go straigh back to Julian to hit OLD JULIAN HIGHWAY...which then you can go to Highland Valley Rd.
That takes you to the 15 freeway.....
Well get some serious directions and maps for you soon!
HAve fun and enjoy your rides..:D

try riding out Scripps Poway Parkway (one exit north of Mira Mesa Blvd on the 15) and it'll eventually T into the 67. You can take the 67 out to Ramona, Julian, etc..

Indeed. Once you get past the traffic signals, it's a great way to wake up in the morning!

I keep this map with me when I ride in San Diego. It's great to find out the description of the type of riding on a particular route.

Now if we can only teach you to read a map! Do any AAA maps cover these areas? For the LA area, the Los Angeles County Mountains and Deserts map is awesome because it covers all of the Santa Monica Mountains and all of the San Gabriel Mountains.

I do that route all the time, except when I get to the 94, I make a right and head out to Potrero. Great ride and not too technical at all. Not as balls out fun as Palomar, but great nonetheless. Hit me up on a PM if you want me to show you my route out there :).

Look up Palomar Mountain sometime and take a cruise up there and see some pretty nice corners up one side and if your interested you can watch some serious riders up there and smoke through that place like its a straight road.

you have a YZF 600RR...can you elaborate?

yeah its a 2003 Yamaha YZF 600RR which means it is the lastest of the R's Yamaha does that to keep them organized. If you everhave to order parts for a yamaha they have a different letter for every year bike. My owners manual sais Yamaha "YZF 600RR" The only difference is my bike has some California smog regulations which I am going to have Lee's Cycles yank off soon. That is the only difference. The 1996-present Yamaha YZF 600 are all the same with some small Cosmetic differences. They change the graphics to distinguish the difference and also they changed the speedo on the 2002 model I believe before it was in 20mph increments and now they are in 10mph increments like my bike has. One of the other Thundercats that comes to bike night has a 2001 I believe and he has the 20mph gauge. They are called Thundercats for the simple reason that in Europe most bikes usually have a name instead of an identification such as a FZ1 or something to that effect they usually get a name from the factory. I don't know all the names but I do know that my bike is a Thundercat. If you have ever seen my bike I put thundercat name decals on the bike and if you look at the sticker for the YZF forum you will see the thundercat head from the good ole cartoon. If you need any other information let me know. I will see you guys out there. As long as they finished cleaning up the roads at palomar I am going to be up there tomorrow morning and sunday morning also so if you would like to head up there with me or meet me up there that would be great I am sure you can teach me a thing or 2 because I have only been there once so give me a buzz if you would like to do something.

I dont know if you guys have ever heard of this road but it is a little north of you. It starts in Fallbrook and takes you to Temecula if you go all the way. If you are coming from the fifteen take Mission rd into fallbrook turn right on North Pico Ave. That road turns into De Luz rd and just keep going on that road. There are 2 ways to get to Temecula from there, either De Luz or Sandia Creek rd. they are both good roads. But, be carefule the first time you ride this road there are some tricky turns.

Go North on the 15 to Temecula. Take the 79 up to Aguanga and follow through until you hit the S22/S2 (windy part) and follow that down to Anza Borrego. I think from their you can go towards the Salton Sea and head towards Glamis and meet up with the 8 and take that back to the 15/5/whatever. A gigantor circle. I assume it'd take like 4-5 hours heh...
By the way, Pasta Fredo, have you ever taken 79 from Temecula to 371 and up to Anza? Yeah, that's my town. Freaking small, but we get a zillion motorcycle nerds up there every weekend it seems. You should get a dirt bike and go riding at Cahuilla Creek track that's up there.

That's a very cool map indeed. I was looking for a new project to do and this idea came to my mind. Based on that map, create a website (that could be an extension of either hypercycles or socalsvriders) with very nice features, like favorite rides, pictures, ride search based on parameters (tight, scenic, etc)...
Ideas? Is that Enrico guy still around?

Kinda like this LINK (http://www.pashnit.com/motoroads.htm)
But yeah, they don't have very good info for San Diego area roads. That sounds like an awesome idea. Let me know if I can help.
That's the idea, but I was thinking about something exclusive for San Diego area first, and much more interactive.
For example imagine this scenario:
You may start from the top view (all san diego area, just like enrico's map), then zoom it to the palomar area. You'll have a zoom of that map (probably with the same engine as microsoft streets and trips), but also, the best rides available in that map. If you select that ride, it will highligh in the map.
Additionally, users will be able to upload pictures and attach them to particular spots of the ride. The guy who's looking at the map will see a photo icon, and if he click he'll see a popup window with one or many photos taken at that place, as well as road hazards, gas stations, testimonials, hints, etc.
It would work as a visual forum, and it would be nice if we could setup moderators for segments of the map.
This is the core idea of the website, we could think of many other nice features to have and refine the concept. And of course, is still only an idea, no links yet :D
