Sept 4 WSIR event

ok after reading all the posts, i thought it would be nice to have all the info here in a single post for us guy going to the track day.

- From my understanding, there will NOT be a tire guy at the track that day, so please mount tires at buymoto before you race.

-They are alot more stricter with tech. If your tires are showing blue on them already from having been through too many heatcycles, they will not let you race.

-This one is aimed toward JELCO. You might wanna contact them about this. They frown upon mismatched tires. Theres a chance you will not pass tech. If you wanna read up on this click here:

you can see on page 12 that ive already asked for you and personally he doesnt see a problem with it. But make sure anyway.

-"With regard to arrival time....OUR staff gets there at 7AM and you should NOT crowd the front gate at that time. Please show up after 7:15AM, as we don't start registration and tech until 7:45AM and then at 8:30AM we close tech and start the rider's meeting. Please note that bikes tardy to tech (if you show up for tech at 8:29, well, what can I say?) may not get tech'd until after 10PM since our first hour is dedicated to riders who were there on time, getting the school going and putting out all the small fires that seem to crop up administratively at track days. "

-For intermediate riders, they do allow passing on the inside with a 6-foot gap. They stress that alot and if they see you closer than 6 feet, they will give you a warning the first time, and then asked to leave on the secong offense.

-We will be provided with plenty of water and gatorade c/o sportbike track time. Free! so we do not need to bring so much.

-There will be a 1 hour lunch break like usual.

-Marvin has secured us a garage. We will fit as many as 6 maybe? most of us are in the intermediate class so we can get more people in the garage if they are signed up for race or novice. garage is 75 bucks for that day and will be divided on however many people are paying. This will eliminate th need for extra tents. Especially the one that fly up over the track. -=o)

-Who needs transportation? Looks like, from a previous post, that arnold is using phams trailer. Im assuming marvin is towing it? if not, better secure you're ride up there.

-Sleeping arangements. Someone better call up park Plaza and rsvp a room. i still dont know if i will be sleeping there the night prior to race day so someone please take care of that.

Plenty of peeps from www.socalsportbikes.com will be there but from the looks of it, they are gonna take up the novice class. lots of first timers. Some of them have beef with Hypercycles so please behave guys! -=o)

I forgot to mention that they require a back protector for the intermediate class and above. so make sure you shop ebay, forums, or buymoto for one.

AS far as i know, arnold is the only one with the trailer. There are like 5 guys that wanna hitch a ride. hard decisions. The beef im talking about is that they were complaining about the WSIR event that hypercycles ran. They say that it was a big mess up and felt like it was a waste of money or something. I dont know anything about it.

hey jeff... the beef is not with hypercycles.org.... its with hypercycle.com ( http://hypercycle.com/ )... and yes, people were complaining about the way the ran their trackday... but it has notthing to do with us...

Ok, here's the situ! I'm borrowing my friends 4weezee and Mike's trailer. It's can haul 3 bikes max (with 3 wheel choks) and I don't mind hauling 3. So far it's me and Hans(sv650) <-- {he called it a while back}, bikes on the trailer. The 3rd spot is up to you guys - i.e who ever pays first, rock/paper/scissors, flip a coin, etc.

So in the 4runner, it's me, nizzle #1 and nucka #2

That trailer was borrowed from johns friend. John is having a hard time getting a hold of that guy. I recommend that you haul up josh and his R6 so that marvin and john wont have to fight over it. Although i do remember marvin asking mike if he can us their trailer first. Anyway. looks like marvin can find a trailer and that takes care of that. I am getting rid of it and it did star in the FNF2 DVD for a split second during the race scene :( . I was thinking more in the lines of minivan or SUV w/ a full blown out stereo system and 22s...nah J/P!

well, with less than two weeks, its gonna be tight with ebay. unless you go with overnight shipping. something that might save you some stress over prices, fitting and shipping, is rent one for this track day and then purchase after. if you have the flow, you could just go to a shop, and purchase one there. personally, i fitted my suit at house of motorcycles and bought my on ebay. got a good deal for a P1 under $500. buymoto has the best prices ive seen here in san diego.

1. 6x12 open trailer - this will fit 3 bikes no problem... and this is $29.95/day so it'll be $60 for 2 days - $20 (coupon) = $40/3 = $13.34 ($14 rounding it off)/per person
2. 5x9 open trailer ... dont know if its gonna fit 3 bikes...this is $24.95 per day.. so $50 for 2 days - $20 (coupon) = $30/3 = $10/per person - this trailer already has a ramp so it'll be easier for us... let me know ASAP what ya'll think is better...

The big trailer is only $5 more per day than than 5x9...just get the bike one just in case. Maybe if you want to visually check the size of the U-Haul trailer in person so you can get a better idea. I'm getting off tomorrow at 6:30am; maybe I can check it out if you're going to be busy. As far as Park Plaza, I'll check on prices.

if you're talking about the Highside, they're selling it for $419 but I'm selling one for $300 brand new. It's a blue 40 1-piece, and it has more room than most suits. Here are my best guesses for who it would work for .......5'9" to 5'11", 145-175, 32 waist, and 42 chest

Randy, try and buy a suit now instead of renting it. Its just 100 bucks more you gotta pay for the suit if you rent first. try and get it shipped priority or 3-4 day delivery. dont forget to get gloves that cover your wrists too.

Jeff...they got the A* SX1 and Venom and that will be in by Monday if I order. What ya think dood? The boots they are backordered so I might go to Cycle Gear. I get 10% off. I don't know if my gloves are track worthy...I have SP2s for now.

They have boots at cycle gear and at house of motos. As for the suit, i know nothing about them but a*'s is already an excellent brand. YOu might wanna ask marving about that suit. i think thats what he has. Sleeping bag for the hotel is fine. I think my gloves are sp2's as well. as long as they cover the wrists they''ll accept it.

the SX1 is a sick suit, expensive though.........like $900 I think......
You could get a GPU for about $600 from some sites......although they aren't as stylin as the SX1

as for boots, yeah House has the most selection

i got the GPU and very satisfied with it -it fully perforated... if u call ridersinc.com (which is a vendor for 600rr.net), i think they have their a* V4 suit for less than $500, just make sure u mention that ur a member of that forum and talk to nick or chris... u might as well get the boots from them too but i would try some out at house of motorcycle if i were you...

So the room fits 8 ppl comfortably but I'm down to reserve another room if anybody wants to split 3 or more ways. I've never been there so maybe the rooms are that huge. Maybe a simple roll call on each of the following would help:

1) who's carpooling and trailer use
2) how many rooms and who's staying in them
3) and garage

and anything else anyone can think off...

The only thing that needs to be added to the summary is transporation and sleeping details. Looks like everyone ont he board who sed they are coming is already set with transportation up there. A couple people dont have gear yet or a back protector. We've got a garage and marvin told me theres about 15 people in it. but we are all not in the same class. I think there will beat least 2 EZ ups so that the riders and guests can stay in the garage while the bikes are under the tents. IM not sure how many rooms are reserved at the park plaza.
Does everyone wanna caravan up there? or leave at your own pace? I think most of us will be taking the 5 north to the 14 east till they hit the park plaza.if you want a good nights rest. i Suggest leaving at 6? and hopefully get there by 10 depending on the traffic. Is there anything i left out guys?

traffic up the 5 goes from 2-7. id take the 15 jeff, thats personal experience driving to LA. especially on a friday, and even more so that its a long weekend!! if youre gonna take the 5 leave before noon. on the same token, many people could be going to vegas for the weekend, but they usualy dont leave till sundown.

for those of oyu who havent been tot he track yet, here is a pic of the 4 garages. And you can see an ez up tent setup like what we plan on doing as well. Bikes under the tent and people inside? or vice versa. Just to give you a hint of how much space there is. The garage space is almost the size of 2 ez-ups put together.

Marvin. I bought some ratchet tie downs at walmart. You can get a set of 4 for 20 bucks. They look pretty trustworthy to me. I let jon borrow 2 of thos pull tie downs but i tond trust them to hold the bke down. Its a pretty good investment there at walmart. They carry trailer balls if you still need it too. AS for the garage. All i need room for is for me and my girl and prolly 1 beach chair and my cooler. Like i sed, the bike can stay outside and i'll just have a towel cover up the seat. I think bringing hot bikes into the garage will just heat the garage even more and make it kinda pointless since its not that well ventilated.

Well I'm screwed..... rear axle got stuck as I was taking off the wheel. 3/4 of the way out but won't budge any further. Yes I took the weight off the wheel and wiggled it around, still couldn't pull it out.

Stuck a skinny round file in there and tried to tap it out, and now the file is stuck in there too. This is pathetic. I'm going to Home Depot to find some kind of big long rod I can stick in there (assuming there's any room left, with that file stuck in there) :rolleyes:

This is why I don't like workng on cars or bikes. I have no garage, plus you get to a certain age and you just run out of patience for it.

oh hey guys..just giving you a pointer. Taking the 5 north up to willow might be the easiest route. you have to remember that its a holiday weekend, and people will be crowding the 15 to get to las vegas. The 5 will have a carpool lane but it all depends on what time we are all leaving SD. I personally am not leavin till like 630 or so. Hope this pointer helps. get plenty of rest and lets have fun out there.
