pictures to come.
onramp from clairmont to 52 west bound, the white arrow was extra slick for some reason and the front tire gave way.
left side plastics and rearset needs replacing.
rear rim broken
mark on the frame :(
same route i take every day 3 times a day, just no traction today, i felt it start to go, knee when down the same time, which hurt and wore through the jeans immidiatly. then it was time to bail as i was already sliding on my elbow.
got up , got the bike up,
called a buddy lifted it into the truck
and she is back at home.
this really sucks, hapened not too long ago.
in totally fine, no markes except getting my knee down so a little blood.
two options,
because of the tiny frame dent, claim insurance, buy it back, make it a race bike, then cancel insurance as i wont be able to afford it.
or
just fix it myself.
let me know what you guys think
ill post pictures when my gf gets home with the camera.

Suckage, dude! Claim insurance and get your R1 back! I kid, I kid!
Lemme look up the place, but one of the magazines (I think Roadracing World) sends their bikes to for assurance that the frame is straight. Ain't exactly cheap, but they will adjust your frame's geometry if it needs it. It's hard to tell how much actual damage was done -- might be purely cosmetic.

yeah its just cosmetic, wasnt fast enough for any real frame damage to happen. ill give it a good once over when i strip it all down to check for any broken internals.
but i think i can have ti fixed with new parts in the relm of 1200-2500 depending on upgrading rims and rearsets

thanks i might give you a ring,.... the way i figure thought i couls have everything changed out and replaced in under two hours, just a matter of money and decisions right now.
im trying to buy some pvm rims off some guy so if that goes through, then ill just order some plastics and hopefully have it up and running in 2 weeks

Time for you to start scanning the boards. I got lucky when looking for R6 parts on the forums and got some pieces from racers junking their stock parts for a good price. G'luck!

for sure i mean i wouldnt normally hit paint lines at that lean, but ive done it faster 50 times so it wasnt a thought at all, untill things started slipping
im sitting on the fence as we speak.
fix it and continue.
or claim it and end street riding, and then buy it back and do full out on the track.

+1 for going track only. I have no regrets doing so. Not worth the insurace, possibility of being killed by police, possibility of being killed by other drivers, criminal record, etc. Shoot, im dangerous enough to myself on an empty track!!!

i have a question, if it was Hazardous road conditions does it affect your insurance.
any info on this is appriciated, as otherwise ill just fix it my self and get back on the streets, or maybe track only.

if you claim hazardous road conditions then chances are that your insurance company can put you "at fault" increasing your premium. But if you say it was parked and your friends out and someone hit it. . . then your premium wouldn't be affect as much. . .get it! ;) ;) ;)

**** it ill just fix it myself, ****ty enough to pay high premiums and never use them, and sucks even more when you have to pay more over the next 3 years then the cost to fix it.
so for under 2 gs i think i can get her back together, a guy already affered to hook me up with a new rearset, and i think im going to order some pvm 10 spokes. so then just a few hundred in plastic and ill be back out there in no time
afrothunder
08-25-2004, 01:39 PM
why don't you just buy track plastics?
track it bro. its not worth it riding on the streets anymore.
IMHO.

hmm well i already do have track plastics, i could just get a rim and be done with it.
ill think about it, but the way it looks.
888 to replace all plastics.
300 for stock rear rim
1100 for pvm 10 spokes used.
thats the pricing so far, havent figured out what to do

well, I think you could get the wheel, and use the track plastics and probably be good to go, in under 3-400 bucks?
then you can save the extra mula for track days :)

from what i know with insurance, the only thing that will not raise your rates if if an animal ran infront of you. even if you say you hit some dirt or water or osmething like that then they will say you should have been more cautious of road conditions and still claim its your fault. if an animal runs in front of you then you really had no control over it at all so it will not raise your rates. when my buddy crashed his new F4i up at pally he just claimed a coyote ran infront of him on highland valley road and he went off the road and his rates did not go up....... but in my opinion that excuse will only work once haha. its your decision man, if you want to ride the street still then just fix it up urself, that dent is not bad. but if you did get the track bug and feel that is better for you then insurance that thing and you will have money to make a great track bike. glad you are ok.

Man, I've had baaad luck with wildlife and my vehicles both car and bike. I've actually ran over a rabbit before and it's carcass flipped off my rear wheel and hit one of my old buddies who is currently racing in the Australian roadracing series (John Pearson) on the shoulder. Eeewww....
I got hit by a HUGE deer with big long antlers too while driving to get boba at night going down Camino Santa Fe (it's SOOO dark there at night). Had witnesses and a police report on that written up just to make sure my insurance didn't get suspicious. Even took photos just in case... oi... what a nightmare.
Apparently there are quite a few people hitting deer in the Mira Mesa and Sorrento Valley area so be careful out there at night everyone! ESPECIALLY on Camino Santa Fe. Those Deer signs are there for a good reason apparently. heheh... i installed a device that State Farm provides for their insured on my bumper to hopefully prevent deer from leaping in front of my car in the future.
