Man, "my friend" is still a little on edge. My buddy and "my friend" were speeding on the freeway. He was in front, "my friend" was behind. A bike cop comes out of nowhere and speeds up to just behind my buddy and turns on his lights. So my buddy starts moving over, but the traffic is building up so it takes him a while to move over.

Meanwhile "my friend" has slowed down and as soon as the cop's on the side of the road "my friend" looks over and the cop points at "him". So "my friend" sees him, downshifts and takes off. Fortunately, "he" was only a mile or so from my exit, so "he" quickly got off the freeway with nobody behind "him". About 30 mins later my buddy comes back to the office (work with him) and told me that he'd told the cop he didn't know "my friend". And that the guy behind him was just a stranger following him.

Ohhhhh man, it was sooooo close. I know "my friend" can NOT afford another ticket. Gotta chill out on the speeding. :shifty:

Might want to tell "your friend" to not post up stories about breaking the law on here because Hypercycles does not condone such acts.

People do it, but it aint wise to go spreading it around the forums.
There are certainly a few cops that are on socalSVriders and for all we know maybe a few on this site.
It aint big and it aint clever.

Next time you see your friend, tell him that things like this give "us" a bad name.

Then we wonder why cops give us such frivolous tickets as chatterbox and earplugs...

Nobody's impressed.

FYI the only reason you're not in jail right now is because he didn't chase you.

When you are with Hypercycles.. you don't EVER have to worry about running from the cops.. cuz there will NEVER be a reason good enough to do so. :headbang:

Badiozam.. I remember you from Bike Night.. you are a good fellow I am sure. From your story, your "friends" made a huge mistake that could have cost them their lives as well as others.. and could have landed them in jail or prison for a very long time. If they are going to be your "friends", please help them realize that if they do something dumb on public roads and get caught for it, it's better to take responsibility than to be even more irresponsible and run away from law enforcement. This hurts our image as law-abiding motorcyclists/citizens as a whole and is EXTREMELY frustrating to see people condone such behavior. A part of Hypercycles credo is never to condone such dangerous behavior on our forums. Please take what people have said here in a positive light. Everyone needs to learn at some point and I'm sure there were maybe a few others here who used to brag about "running away from cops" before who have realized the hard truth about the error of their ways and have become safer and more mature riders.

We are not about alienating new members before we even get to know them and I hope that is not how you feel as forum comments can be interpreted in so many ways.

Hope to see you again soon. Keep the rubbah down bubba!

We strive to maintain a safe and fun environment for our members and to foster a community that focuses on the more positive and fun aspects of riding and friendship. Hope to ride with you soon!"

Hey guys, I don't take offense at anything anyone has said and I hear everyone on their comments.

I was more sharing my story to relieve myself of the stress, as well as to get some advice from my peers. You get a feeling in the pit of your stomach when you do something wrong (aka guilt) and it had been a really long time for me since I'd done anything illegal.

Yeah, I was expecting more of a "hey, you do need to chill, you got lucky, don't pull that ****, here's what you gotta tell yourself when you feel the urge to speed" instead of the "it's guys like you who give the rest of us a bad name, you're not impressing anyone, etc".

But I understand the latter side as well... generalization is something we all have to live with at one point or another: if ur black u know how to play basketball, if ur asian u know martial arts, if ur muslim u know ur explosives LOL. The biker "outlaw" stereotype is a sticky one, too.

I'll tell ya it's NOT something to be proud of having done.

Well I definitely understand the temptation to run, it flashes through my head sometimes, but so does jail and kids in strollers. If some of our replies were a little curt, it's because you could have hurt/killed somebody we know doing that.

But hey, sounds like you figured out that it's not worth risking a high-speed pursuit just to get out of a ticket you may be able to talk yourself out of.

So let's go ride.
