Motorcycles are considered vehicles by the California Vehicle Code and are subject to the same rules and regulations of any car, so motorcycles cannot park on any sidewalk that is public land. In cities like San Francisco where parking is a problem, enforcement of this law may be lax (as evidenced by a lot of scooters and motorcycles on the sidewalk).

I think on Private Property, however, such as at Fry's and Best Buy where motorcyclists can be seen parking their bikes right next to the building where the bicycle racks are it is up to the building owner's discretion.

I've parked at wal-mart and other places right next to the entrance where the bike rack is. I've also noticed motorcycles parked at Plaza Bonita, on the sidewalk chained to the bike rack.

LOL. Which cop in San Diego is gonna waste time writing that ticket. A bored one prolly.
Personally I haven't checked the section but I wouldn't care as long as you are not obstructing the walkway for pedestrians.

you can park in the sidewalk.... but its NOT legal. my friends aunt is a traffic officer. and i was parked on the sidewalkinfront his house (in a gated private property community) and she warned me that it is illegal. :nutkick: but i do it infront of my house everyday.....

I'm pretty sure it's up to the owner/manager of the property. I see a SV in front of the MM Best Buy all the time. I think it belongs to a guy that works there. I do see bikes parked by bike racks all the time, but I usually use my own discretion when parking by biuldings.

Parking on the sidewalk is not legal. U got to think. Can u park a car there? Motorcycles have to follow the same rules as cars. Hell by law u can't ride a bike on the sidewalk.

I second that.. I know one guy got a ticket at Plaza Bonita " private property " parking his bike on an island.. You would think it's ok cause it is out of people way but nope got a ticket..
