If you check out epinions.com you can see the reviews and search for the best prices, think they have one for $360 shipped but probably can't get the compact flash for such a good deal.

The Canon Powershot S series are much better IMO. But I'd really love to own a Canon D60 tho. . .

The s400 is a very cool camera. I have had the s100, s230 also so I can tell you that they work and work and work! They all took great pics and the s400 is a great compliment to the G5. The G5 is just way too bulky to take everywhere, but I do prefer it.

Okay, one more pic of it:

Isn't 4MP a bit of an overkill? That's what...2000 x 2000 or something in that area?

Not when you want to print out a picture. 4MP is good quality from my experience.

The Minolta product line is very good also. If I didn't buy Canons, I would go with Minolta. That F300 is a good camera.

Are we seriously taking digital pictures of digital cameras?

Kent uses a minolta and it seems to work great for him. I know that greg just purchased a minolta as well....300 bucks for a 5 megapixel seems like a really really good deal, almost too good. I myself would like to have a camera that I could take while going out(i.e small) but I would really want to take some pics of everyone riding and with that in mind I would like to get the olympus 750 which has 10 optical zoom....yumm yumm

the only prob with that is that its bulkier....

but that minolta looks pretty dope!

eh, I would just buy a cheaper point and shoot camera. Something small and compact that you can take with you for snapshots. If you're going to take any quality action pics I would pick up a nice lens for Nic's Cannon. The high end digital stuff that is even comparable to film is super expen$ive. It's progressing so fast that the prices just plummet when the next models come out anyways. Stick with film for real photography and wait for the high end digital that's coming down in price steadily.

any of the low end models with 2-3 MegaPixels will work fine for regular snapshots.

just my 2 cents ;)

For me, digital cameras are about ease of use. I like being able to take the pics, batch process them and put them in my portfolio. I already have several hundreds pictures that I share with my family and friends and all they have to do to save the original is right click and save.

I don't know what you guys use, but I use www.fotopic.net . I have several hundreds pics in my albums and it is only 3% full. Plus, it is free.

If you have the money, you can't go wrong with digital cameras, and you can always find good deals. I think regular cameras are cool too, but I hate having to wait to see the pics.
