So as some of you may know my bike was stolen recently:
http://www.hypercycles.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3690 and fortunately recovered.

So I'm looking to install some anti-theft equipment on it and wanted your input:

or

One of the two listed here:
http://www.armedguard.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cat=3&cart=33463

Anyone have experience with this?

I don't have any experience with those alarms. I just have the NY chain and a disk lock on my bike whenever it's at home... and just the disk lock when I leave it alone (which isn't for long).

Scott has these Scorpio alarms that are supposed to be the crap:

He'll install it and everything...

I personally think you should get a cheap alarm, just something to annoy a thief. If they want to get it they will, an alarm is just a deterent I dont think you should spend so much, if you do I suggest an alarm and a lock and a garage. IMHO

What do you think about the alarms that page you though. I'd personally like to be there to see who's fvckin with my baby so I can bust a cap in his ass! I hope it'll never happen again since I'm gonna be so friggin paranoid from now on. But I hear what you're saying. Sh!t as soon as I can afford it, I'm gonna get a hangar!

I've heard of a disc lock called Xenia? i think. Once it's locked onto back any motion of bike will trigger a billion decibel siren. Loud enough that most thieves would crap in their pants and run. But like other people have said if they really want it they can get it.

The Xenia disc alarm can be easily defeated and if you can't hear it then it isn't really going to help much. I have had nothing but good luck with the Scorpio paging alarm.

You can have it set to silent alert which the thief will have no idea the bike is alarmed but you will still get a page to catch them. If the bike is bumped, tilted, hot wired or the alarm is cut it will still go off.
