View Full Version : BIG Loop - Saturday 1/31

Finally! Got a group together for the big loop:

94 to Campo to Sunrise to Banner back to Julian to Santa Ysabel to home (or Palomar, if you still have feeling in your ass).

http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6650&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

Meeting is 9:00am in Mira Mesa, 9:30am at the Mobil on Telegraph.

***UPDATE*** LOOK HERE!!!!
The attached PDF sums up the route with meet points and run groups. Looks like we'll have a big party...so we'll go for 3 run groups. Check out the PDF and figure out which group you should be in. We'll split up at the Eastlake Mobil.

I plan on leading group #2. Anybody want to lead group #3?

Arnold or Allan - you guys want to lead group 1?

Group etiquette, hand signals and safety meeting will be held at Eastlake Mobil.

Timing should be as such:
Leave Eastlake around 10am
Leave Cameron Corners around 11am
Hit Santa Ysabel around Noon.
Those who want to go to Palomar could be there by 12:30-45

I'd like to hit up some lunch in Santa Ysabel or Julian for whoever is interested.

sounds like fun!

I went up sunrise today and it was *cool* :)
It's supposed to warm up a little by next weekend so...yea!

Good news it that the weatherman says it might rain on Saturday, so you KNOW that ain't gonna happen.

So how long more or less does the "loop" take? What time do you think we would be at Palomar, +or -? Sounds like fun, let's go.

Ikazuchi
01-20-2004, 09:07 AM
I'll let the "chance" of rain this weekend allow me time to change my oil and clean/oil my chain . . . .

As for time to Paly:
We should be out to Campo by 10:45, Julian by 11:30, Santa Ysabel by Noon so then another 15 minutes or so to the mountain if you don't stop and have lunch with us in Santa Ysabel.

Yeah...I'm taking this possibly rainy weekend to catch up on some overdue maintainence: Oil for the bike, brakes for the truck, fix the exhaust leak on the truck, clean/oil the chain....ugh.

Damn...it's raining right now.... and I took my bike to work.....

Are you meeting at Mira Mesa or telegraph? What group are you gonna ride with? We're going to try the 2nd one, havent ridden with a group before but not really beginners and dont want to go slow. Nick's just hoping that the bike that he's borrowing makes it without breaking down along the way. =)

Since I live down south, I'm just gonna meet the rest of you at Mobil in Eastlake. I'm probably gonna hang out with Allan (deathblow) up in front and show 'em how team shambles/team calamari do business! ;) There's quite a few women riders on this ride. Last I heard, Guzzigirl(Michelle) has just been added to the group!

Believe me, I know how hard it is, used to try to do it. Alot of times, I still would be drunk and then have my hangover at Palomar!!

If you guys are doing the big loop, hopefully I'll meet you guys out at the Mobil in East Lake. I'll probably have the loudest bike out there :).

*sigh....* Unfortunately, I just got a call from my family this evening and it looks like I won't be able to make the ride. My father needs my help pretty bad up there in LA so I am deeply saddened to say that I will not be able to make this most awesome ride.

Please take lots of photos!

So what's the deal, it's dry down here in Chula Vista area. A little bit on the cold, chilly side. Some of the roads were wet, but it seems like they are drying up. The dark , heavy clouds seem to be moving east ward leaving for a some what clear day ahead as the time progresses. I'm going, I'm a soldier, I'm bundling up!

Don't worry Sean and Carlos, it was a wet ride, well for the begining. Good turn out at Mobil! Good to meet you Elizibeth (redhead4u), her hubby Nick(iceman1911), and Chuck(Amish Marauder) who almost ran out of gas on Sunrise Hwy. It's was a rain ride for the begining part, then as we got to Potrero, it got really cold and foggy. Old Julian was a little bit more forgiving as the sun came out and the road started to dry. The SV guys and GALS came out strong today and made it fun. Allan, this rain ride wasn't as bad as YOUR rain ride, but it overall, we had a fun time with no crashes. Josh(zx6racer) and Juan Hernandez(maroon ZX-7R) and a dude on a Matrix Reloaded 996 bike were going at it for awhile. Mike (RC-51) and his brother took off. Next time Mike. You guys split from the Restaurant and headed home on Santa Ysabel, I turned around and headed to Palomar and pay her a little visit. Saw Mike(Suzukirider22) heading down and Zeal heading up as I was heading down. Melissa was the turn out with Kent I think!

I went out ot Specturm Motorsports for their official opening of their Italian Department. Left at about 2:30 and the roads were dry and the sun was out.

Saw a guy pop a wheelie right next to me in the HOV lane. And some chick riding a SV who used her left foot to signal changing lanes (in addition to her blinkers). I guess she was too petrified to take her hand of the handlebars. It was an interesting group of riders nonetheless who were lane sharing at like 90 mph and just dominating that portion of the freeway.

I went out for a short jaunt in the SMM's. Wound up having pillions (newbies getting into the sport).

Hey now arnold, stop trying to promote Nick already, he doesnt need any more ideas.

Thanks all, had a great ride, even though the first half was very cold and wet, glad we bought those extra neck warmers and glove liners, just needed rain gear.

It was nice to meet everyone, hopefully we can make this a regular occation and I'm sure Nick will have much more fun on his bike when he gets it fixed.

yeah a wet ride for sure. I hate that D207 on my front, doesn't grip good in the sun let alone the wet. its nearly time to replace it though ..any ways, when we all finished eating and everyone took the 67 to home, I hit up Highland valley road, and it was fantastic! the sun was out the road was COMPLETELY dry...that was the best riding all day. I stayed the night up in Temecula at a friends and will be hitting up Palomar today soon. looks nice outside.

took a couple pics of the turnout, will post them when i get home.
