oh, i had a question...for boots, what type do you suggest you wear when you ride? i have a pair of steel toed, navy issue boots and i was wondering if they'd be good to wear

I had a yellow one, myself. Best modifications I made on it were rearsets -- position on the bike was a little too relaxed for my tastes. I probably would have went for clip-ons next, then raised the forks a bit. This is after I got the suspension dialed in, of course. ;-) Originally posted by jian

You might want to re-consider the steel toed part because if you land wrong you could loose some digits down there (so I have heard; but I have no stories to back such a claim). Lots of companies out there make great boots, you're best bet is to drop by BuyMoto (http://www.buymoto.com) and try some on. I have found that Alpinestars work for the wide-footed, while Sidi's are a little more narrow. Because I ride on the track, I bought Verbatas, and I highly recommend them. Your choice of boots will be dependent on your comfort, usage, budget, and aesthetics (if that is important to you).

Welcome, and keep the rubber side down!

Welcome. I second Dre. Buy according to your comfort and riding style first, and everything else in that order.

other than fun bike center on convoy and california motor sport center on morena road, where are some other bike shops around UCSD? (btw, i'm trading in those steel toed....everyone i meet says the same thing, except for my navy roomie who says it'll hold....but then again, he hasn't ridden in like 6 years or something)

THe closest one will be buymoto in Miramar.

There's also Lee's Cycle Racing on Aero and cycle gear right next to FBC.
