Well first off man am I tired! Tired of smiling! :D
Ok anyways. What can I say but WOW!
My race was the last one of the day. So I had a chance to sit back and worry a ton and watch all the other guys and gals out on the track show me how it is done! Talk about feeling slow after a day of this!
So I am grided dead last. 21st. but I am on the inside, which is a good place to be. My nerves were shot and finally the green flag drops I have an ok start, but I think I am still in last place. I pick up two spots in T2 and head towards T3. Right away I see a waving yellow so now I know that I can't pass anyone. Next thing I know we are being called in. A rider had gone off the track in T4 and hit the wall. Not good, but I can't let that get to me. We regrid and try it again. This time it is now a 4 lap race instead of a 6 lap race.
So I am in the same spot again, but this time a guy on a Harley Sportster pulls a false start and he has to go to the back of the grid. Nice! Now I have someone behind me! LoL Green flag drops and I had a pretty good start. I feel like I am up in the top 10 pack. I am on the inside and I make the mistake of shifting to 4th going into T1. I am hard on the gas exiting and the bike feels like a pig. One passes me on the outside so I quickly realize that I need to downshift and get moving. I ***** footed it and hit a false neutral between 4th and 3rd gear! I am hard on the gas and going nowhere! By then I had a few more bikes pass me and I am pretty sure I am in dead last. I get it into gear and then I have to try and play catch up. I pick off the sporster guy in T2, which was scary as hell because his back tire was just bounding all over the place I thought he was going to crash and take me with him! Passed another going into T3 and now I am felling pretty good. Now I had to get pass ubermensch (Tom). By the way Tom you have a beautiful bike! Me like:love: I was all over his ass in T4 and followed him all the way around the track. I just couldn't get passed him. Then on the second lap as we were coming into T8 I knew I had more speed then him and I passed him setting up for T9. But now the main group was already half way down the front straight. I knew I had to make up some time. I went as deep and as late as I could into T1 before braking, but it was to deep and to late! Hard on the front brakes I could feel the front tire starting to lock up and the rear coming off the ground and the only things in my head were turn!, downshift! ohhhh **** the pavement is running out!!!! But I got the bike slowed down and turned it in. I was way off the race line, but no one passed me! I just kept pushing it all the way around then with 1 1/2 laps to go I caught the group of people. The guy in the back of that pack was on an SV as well. I picked him off on the inside of T4 and then tried to catch the other two with in striking distance. I would start to real them in in T8 but they would just walk away from me down the front straight. I hate inlines! Last lap and the same thing happened again. I would get close, but just couldn't get a wheel in there. I finished 16th which isn't that great, but I know that I have room to improve!
Ohh and now I know what people mean when they say "race pace". That was by far the fastest I have ever ridden my bike out there. And the great thing is I know I can go faster!
Thanks Zoran for your help, Kurt it was great of you to come out and watch. Kurt Spencer thanks for ****ing with me when I was looking for that damn spring! :p Tom thanks for the extra shims. Shaggy you the MAN! finishing 3rd! and for all of your help thank you!
