I got to the track early saturday and headed out the third session( had a butt load of saftey wireing to do). I got about 2 laps in when my clutch started to slip. Now, i had just replaced the clutch in december and this was my first time on the track since. I figured that it was just an adjustment problem so i headed back to my pit and messed witht the cable a bit and all seemed well. I headed back out and about three laps in guess what... Yup, clutch started to slip again. By that time it was time for lunch and since i was pretty tired from getting up so early to drive up, i ate lunch and crashed out. Well, i missed a session waking up from my beauty rest. I figured i would put the time waiting for the next session to good use and messed witht the clutch some more. I got another session in and everything seemed o.k... I had mire tires changed and called it a day (there were no more sessions).
Race morning! Teammates Bryant (Bodmaster) and Jason (Shaggy) showed up we all get teched and set for the races. Practice went well and it seemed like my clutch problems were behind me! Bryant had a great first race(650 superbike?), and was dam fast out there! His second race he did even better, but he had a mechanical and DNF'ed. It was a real bummer 'cuz he was doinging really well..
Next up was Shaggy and I in middle weight novice! I was gridded 11 on the 3rd row on the inside. Kind of a crappy being on the inside, but i was determined to make it work. I got a great drive as the flag went down, till there was a bike in front of me that i had to back off, move to the right and pass. Meanwhile i got passed by a ton of guys.. I must have been 13th or so going into turn 1. By turn 2 i was making p spots and feeling pretty good. By the next lap i think i was in 6th and i could see the lead group not far in front of me and i was gaining on them. As i tried to catch them, i noticed being a little low on power till turn 9 when i went ot get on the throttle and noticed that the bike reved but did not go anywhere! I looked behind me at that point and the nearest person was a fair ways back. I said to myself, "ok, i just need to finish the race and hold off as many people as possible. By turn 3 and four it was all i could do to get the clutch to hook up.. Coming around turn 8 & 9 i must have been going 40-50 with riders passing me really fast! I was already out of the racing line with my hand up and figured that if i kept this up, i would get collected by someone and pulled into the hot pit lane.
I was so dissappointed i wanted to scream! I got to my pit and threw my gloves off in disgust. Oh well there is always next month!
On a high note tho, Jason placed third! Congrats jason, i predict a 1st for you next month! Thanks to everone who made the weekend fun, a huge thanks to www.buymoto.com , and i will see everyone out there feb or march.
