Is there any place here in San Diego that rents sports bike? Nick is really feeling left out with his bike all messed up.

Not that I've seen. Plenty of places that rent HD's though.

Yes! Well, not San Diego, but Oceanside. http://www.sportbikerental.com I met one of them (Santiago) at a track day. He filmed OnoGsxr getting pushed off the track (thankfully, his dirt bike skills came in use and he got back on the asphalt with no harm).

I also know the guys from sportbikerental. There rates are pretty reasonable considering you can smoke a set of tires in a day or two if you really try :-D For about 125 a day you can ride one of the new 600cc sport bikes.

I can't think of a better way to buy a bike than to ride it first. This is a great way "feel it out" before you put a big chunck of cash down.

Wow, $125 a day and a $1000 deposit, that's a nice amount of cash, so is one ride worth that? =)

The only reason I let you ride my bike was because I wanted to ride your RC-51 and couldn't think of another way to get my bike down the mountain.

In all honesty, I would say yes.
When I was buying the R6, if I had the opportunity to ride the other bikes, I would have been more confident about my decision. On the same token, I would not feel rushed to buy a motorcycle (or in your b/f's case: would not feel rushed to fix it). And as some have mentioned: no wear & tear on your own motorcycle, and no worries about tire life. I am considering going this route the next time I head out to Arizona.
