Alright, I'm following my younger brother's (shaggy) lead here and am gonna try this racin' thing!!! Luckily I have much more natural skill as well as a faster bike then he does, so I figure he'll only lap me once.
Who else is gonna come out and give it a try? I already know Pulse is going to make his debut! (great another person who will be passing me!!!) Let's represent!

To race with WSMC... the breakdown can be viewed as follows:
The first weekend's fees boil down as follows:
WSMC yearly membership: $120
New racer's school: $100 (you only need to do this ONCE only if you do not already possess a racing license)
Sunday racing: $70
Food: I don't count food $$$ cuz u gotta eat/drink whether you want to or not every single day.
Gas (for bike only - pump 91): $20
New race tires: $280-$320/set
Novice racers can typically run one set of race tires every 3-5 race weekends. Your average tire cost per race weekend will be about $75/weekend. Races are sprint races (typically 6 laps only). If you advance out of novice, you can do the Solo GT series or possibly race in the Formula 1 or F-2 categories (20 laps, 12 laps, 10 laps respectively). Doing the longer races will require that you change out your tires at least once every two race weekends. Tire life also depends on how you ride and how powerful your bike is... the more powerful your bike is, the less life you'll get from your tires.
If you do all the Saturday practice sessions, you'll probably want to have your tires changed every 2-3 race weekends.
So for a novice racer.. I'd say total cost is about
$120+$100+$70+$20+$75 = $385 for your VERY FIRST DAY.
After that.. you will only need to worry about the entry fee, gas and tires.
So it will break down to $70+$20+$75 = $165 / weekend
If you do Saturday practice sessions... add $70 to that total.

I have been steadily trying to purchase all the things I think I will need to do this. I just need my bodywork, safety-wire bike and more money, hehe! Seriously though, once I get the bodywork and safety-wiring done, it is so on!

If you guys need ANY help with bike prep (safety wire, paint...) or whatever, let me know. Maybe we could have a safety wire party at Buymoto one of these days!

Yup Yup! I'd be down to help as well. Just bring your own drill bits! For me the cobalt ones seem to work best...

right on dude.. Go for it.. 05' is the year to race with WSMC. Thad Wolfe is an awesome NRS instructor, and WSMC is a great club. Get outta novice real fast, and you can come try and win some of my money in 650 Superbike! Shaggs is almost at that point! They're probably gonna kick his ass outta novice soon.

I just found out that one of my classes that I am taking in March is going to be on every Saturday. 4 meetings, 8AM to 5PM. Are there any race schools in April? Anyone willing to do it with me?
