Hello all, Jason here from Mission Hills. I'm an old Honda collector of sorts, with my most recently acquired (and already my favorite) '81 CB750F Super Sport, a '84 CB650SC (currently torn down for an engine rebuild that is taking waaay too long to get finished), and an '80 CB400T (my first bike, hauls ass for a tiny engine). Been riding for about six months now.

Hey guys, I'm Melissa. I ride an '03 ZX6RR. Newb to riding.. Only been riding for about 6 months now, but have been around sport bikes for quite a few years now (although I never cared much for them until recently). Originally from the bay area (San Jose to be exact), but for the last 6 months I've been living in Carlsbad, and soon moving to San Diego. Some crazy guy, named Tom (LonghornGSXR) recomended this site.. Just for future reference, you can blame him for bringing me here. =)

Hey yall,

Just moved here in December from North Carolina (did my accent give it away?) Been out at Palomar about every weekend taking pictures. Don't have a bike right now since I sold everything before I moved out here and have been buying photography equipment instead (I could sell it all and easily buy a bike!).. but saving my pennies toward another bike as soon as I don't have to worry about the cost of groceries and rent.

Past bikes in order: (dont laugh... OK.. laugh) 88 Honda VTR-250, 91 Suzuki Katana 600, 97 Suzuki GSXR-750, 00 Yellow CBR F4, then an identical 00 Yellow CBR F4 (I'm a man of variety, what can I say).

I own and operate the following sites:
www.bossturbo.com/cbr (free how-to's for the CBR F4)
www.rpmtshirts.com (motorcycle and car t-shirts and photography)
www.beetees.com (cute animal t-shirts)

I look forward to meeting you guys at Mother's Cafe at top of Palomar and to seeing you all out there on the other end of my lens.

Hey fellas. Just wanted to intoduce myself. My name is Michael, but you can call me Mike; I respond to either. I've lurked on this site for nearly two years now, but I finally ended up meeting a couple of people from here recently at BuyMoto. Jae, Patrick, Bryant, and a guy named Jason. All good guys. I imagine just about everyone else is just as amiable in person as well. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to a meet or something in the near future.

I'll see you around.

Hello everyone,
Tiffany here, from the greatest city in the world, (San Diego) - just wanted to introduce myself a little but not too much. I have been riding streetbikes for about 2 years now, having sampled tote-goats, mopeds, and dirtbikes growing up I seem to have a general grasp of the whole riding concept....though everyday is a learning experience if you know what I mean (ie just when you think you're flying, some old guy on a Goldwing with his wife and luggage comes around the outside of you, with one hand on the bars, on your favorite most comfortable stretch of asphalt.) Anyhow, I try to go to as many trackdays as possible and am more than willing to get to know some of the gals to split hotel rates, driving, etc. I seem to be having trouble meeting girls that actually ride! In my lurking, everyone seems very nice, and rather entertaining.....I hope to meet some of you guys at trackdays or just round Pally or where ever ; ) :)

I thought I joined this site a long time ago, but I just had to register so maybe not. Anyways, I'm Shawn, and I'm addicted. Dirt, street, you name it. I love the track, but haven't been in over a year... all my finances are going towards racing a mini-sprint car (midget) right now and it's sucking me dry. Supposedly I'll be racing a baja bug with a friend this year, but he's always full of it so we'll see if he gets it together.

I'm counting down the months till desert season again. October will be here soon enough and I can't wait to get back to Glamis. Till then it's riding at elevation: Big Bear & Corral Canyon.

By the way, I checked out the BuyMoto bbq this past Saturday for a bit. Good times, but I had to get back to work. For those of you I met, thanks for being so friendly...

Hey all, I guess this is a good place to start. To introduce myself, my name is Michael. I live near some of San Diego’s prime riding spots (Ramona) so I figured I’d pick up a 600RR. I’ve had my bike since a little after Thanksgiving last year. I ride a little over forty miles every work day and try to take my bike five days a week. Previous bike would be a KZ-400 in 1991 which I wrecked after six months of riding with the help of a cager with a few drinks in his system and in dire need of glasses. Other than that I’ve had three dirt bikes (Suzuki 185 Enduro, YZ-250, XR-250) in and shortly after high school.

So here is what happened. Went on Deployment in Feb. Had been riding for a few months before that on my wife's R6. Came home, and went and bought a Honda 06 CBR600RR. Rode it for three days. I knew I was new so I was being very conservative. I have a buddy at work who invited me to go ride with him and on other. I told him I was new, and needed to take it slow, but I would like to go riding. So Saturday morning I got up and met him on 79. We all gassed up, and talked about the ride. I did not realize that where we were going until we got there. We went to Ortega, coming from the East side. So we stopped at the pull off at the bottom of the mountain. I was told (and had already decided) that I was to take it at my own pace. Don't try to keep up, we would meet at the look out. I had had the safety course, and an advanced rider course, so I at least knew the VERY basics. Of course new bike, and haven't ridden in six months, you can see where this is going. So we started out up the mountain. The ride up went great. They were waiting on me when I got there, but it was fun, and I was comfortable with the pace I took. We went down, and then were going to head up again. When we started, two bikes were waiting to pull out behind us. I hit the 25mph 180deg turn about a mile or so from the pull off. One of the bikers behind me came around me inside my lane. I moved to the inside of the turn to get away from him (yes I know rookie move), which left me on the outside of the turn at the top of the hill. I was already on the asphault on the far right side of the road. I didn't think I could make the turn back to the left with out dropping the bike, so I tried to do the quickstopping technique they show you in the course. I must have braked to hard, because in an instant it threw me into the pavement, and I saw a flash that was my bike slide by. It went over the side, and landed about 100' down (or so the towing company told me). As for me, I seperated my left shoulder, and pretty much went right into shock. The other biker stopped, he had been behind me, and a couple cars. They called the ambulance, and the rest is history. The bike was totalled, I am just lucky I wasn't with it. Lots of lessons learned on my part, but the most important, is that I need to get more seat time, before going somewhere like ortega.

Hey thanks man,

I will be back in the saddle as soon as all the insurance crap is taken care of. If I could do it again, I would at LEAST wait until my bike had been broken in. Ahhh hind site, it is a great thing. In the mean time you have safe riding, enjoy breaking your bike in!!

I know 3 Chix that actually ride if youre willing to meet them...
Jamee at Fun Bike Center (GSXR600)
Melissa at Cycle Gear at Convoy (GSXR750)
Rose, find her at Thursday Bike Nights at Starbucks Parking lot at Mira Mesa (Kawi500)
oh yeah, I support Biker Chix!

I have no intentions of it! Hoping to have a new bike soon, but the process is slow with insurance etc.

As for chicks riding, there is nothing better than a Good looking lady riding a bike. My wife rides a Yamaha R6 04'. When we were dating I remember the first time I saw her bike! She's now my wife, need I say more?

Anyway, hope you all have a great ride this weekend, wish i could be out there with ya! Be safe!

Hi everyone, I am new to this board but not to some of you. I hate to say I just recently moved back here to Seattle but rode with many of you for years. So I guess this will one of the only ways I can say hi and still hear what everyone is up to. I am gonna miss bike night and hanging out and hearing all the going on's. Also if any of you might ever be interested in the riding conditions up here in the northwest feel free to ask.

Hey. I'm Scott but most people call me Yeti. I've been riding off and on for about 17 years. Raced a Yamaha FZ600 back when I was in college. Recently took time off bikes due to wife and kid. Back on for about 6 months now. I ride an R1100RT which I've been modifying to make it more "sporty." I'm on a few other forums but have been looking for a more "local" riders forum.

Hope to see you all out in the canyons and mountains.
Well, I decided the R1100 wasn't sporty enough (nor powerful enough) so I traded it in for a Bandit 1200 with a few changes in the works!! Hope to meet some of you all soon.

Hey all-

I'm Anthony. Met Bex at the LB Bike show as I was trying to find a replacement for my soon-to-be sole-less A* SMX boots.

Live in P.B., 22 (today!!) and working on a transfer to UCSD (hopefully spring '08) from City college. I like long walks on the beach, cuddling, and flowers. Seriously, I'm from MN/WI/IA originally and finally found home here in SD. Digging it, yes, indeed.

Currently riding a '00 red ST2 Duc, but also have a slightly modded GS500 waiting for me to once again flog it, or that might be traded in towards an older Ducati 900SS/SP. No cage, commute on the bike or a fixed gear conversion bicycle.

I work at Point Loma Seafood, but am looking for something moto related.

Always looking for people to hang out/ride/have a brew/BBQ with, so yeah...hoping to have some time here after finals/the holidays to meet up with some like-minded peeps.

Thanks guys, I saw Bex at the shop today, I had pulled up right behind her cage in PB earlier in the day and she remembered the goofy-ass windshield setup on the ST2. I'll be done with finals next week so I'm going to try to make it over to the party.

The key techniques to get in and out of PLSF faster when it is really busy are either calling in the order ahead of time with an accurate time of when you can be there to pick it up, or grabbing somebody that is working by the smoked fish counter.

Or, wear your helmet in and I'll be sure to help you.

welcome to the forum. I think you'll find there are a lot of knowledgeable people here, I however, am not one of them. I'm sure someone will pop in soon and give you an answer. You might want to start a thread on where people get this type of job done.

Welcome to the site! What year SV650 do you have? I'm pretty sure 1st gen seats are different from 2nd gen. I usually find all my answers on www.socalsvriders.org Check out this thread here (http://socalsvriders.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=452&highlight=shaved).

Honestly, I think the best way to become more comfortable with you bike is to ride more often and practice practice practice. Let me know if you ever want to go ride around town, I need to take my SV out more often as well. :p

What you have an SV, no way I thought that was Mikeys as much as he rides it lol

Anways welcome motochica and yes practice practice practice and get use to it is the only way to overcome something that is uncomfortable on your bike. My brother was too short for his bike but he rode with it enough to overcome the not able to touch ground very well at stop lights.

Hey Guys, I think I've probably met almost everyone on here at some point... but I am new to hypercycles. I'm Bonnie, some of you may know me from FBC (ex-sales rep), Bex's parties, or Mira Mesa bike night. I ride around a lot on Thursday and Friday mornings and would love company if anyone wants to join me!

Hi guys and gals.. I signed up a few weeks ago, and have been lurking since....but finally after harrassing multiple annonomous members through YAHOO, AND MSN's, I finally got hold of a guy who knew a guy who has a myspace who showed me the secret hand shake and a few magical words that will now allow me to finally post..hahaha..

so now Im here and want to say howdy..

Im on a cruiser.. so Im not really a fast and furious type.. but I am hoping to find a few people to ride with from time to time..

Im a fairly new rider.. since the beginning of summer.. so im looking for the somewhat slower paced rides maybe this weekend?

Oh.. Hi Bonnie... I talked with you earlier this summer about possibly buying a 1300 VTX at FBC....

since then Ive decided on the 2300cc Triumph Rocket III.. hahaha.. quite a jump.. but fuuun...:)

looking forward to meeting some of y'all soon...

Hey everyone! Just got approved by admin. They must've been swamped with emails, work, life, etc. since I registered a few weeks ago. I met a group of HyperCycle members at Ki's Restaurant in Cardiff then and they recommended me to this group of great people!

I just started riding a few months ago when I decided to take the MSP course as part of a graduate assignment. A few days after the course, I went to get my M1 license. A few days after that, I owned a 08 Ninja 250. Funny how that happens! Now, I'm on this mod obsession: chopping the tail, exhaust, jet kit (hopefully I'll be done for a while unless I can find a better screen to lower turbs on the fwy).

Sup all.

Where to begin? Well, I live in San Diego and I have lived here since I moved to the States when I was half a year old. I don't know what it is, maybe the nice weather that allows for being outside, but since I was little I was always riding my bicycle. It was the best thing ever and the feeling of two wheels and the air compares to nothing else. For a good half decade I have been planning to get a sportbike. Hell, i want one so bad and it is pretty much a dream for me. I am a student at UCSD and I am 18 years old. Although at my young age, some people might see that as a bad thing, but I am informed and have done due dilligence. I realize that biking is not some everyday thing, it is a culture and... i'm ranting .... the point is I am getting a sportbike and look forward to being part of the community!

Things i have planned:
....safety course/license this summer or sooner when I find time.
....Get the cbr 600rr this summer.
(I know, I am on the forum a little early. )

Yup. I decided the rr would be the best choice based on other people. Although I am open to new ideas. A lot of people were telling me to get a 250! But more people say the 600 is ok to start on and the 250 would get boring.

Welcome!

I think that a SV650 is a great starter bike, while we are talking first bikes. If you start on a bike that has less HP and is a little less agressive (well maybe a hair less agressive), you will master the skills much faster. A 600 supersport is a ok bike to start on, but thats it. Its an "ok" bike to start on, but a 250 or an sv650 are great bikes to start on.

No matter what you decide, you will be stoked on it and thats whats important!

Welcome to the club! I  my 250 and sv650. I'll never get bored of them. Also, if you buy a 250, they generally hold their value and you can sell it for what your bought it for when you're ready to upgrade.

If you're interested in the fairings for the SV, they can be purchased and added on...and they come standard on the 2008 if I'm not mistaken. Also, it's a good idea to get your license while you're under 21 because once you hit 21, they up the price for the MSF course. Oh! And before you think about buying your bike, think about buying gear so you can be safe out there! www.buymoto.com

If you want to talk to someone about buying a bike beyond their capabilities talk to me... I highly encourage getting a smaller bike BUT it definitely doesn't mean a 250, then upgrading to the full sport bike. I got my license a year ago and I've finally started riding because of some... ahem.. complications.

Some people say they don't want to bother with the hassle of buying and selling their starter bike but your learning curve will be sooo.

Welcome!

Now I just gotta work on my mom. She will get over it when I am out of the house.

So, I've been lurking for a couple weeks, and since I'm going to be heading to the superbike race this weekend, figured I'd say hello.

I've been riding for about 6-7 months now, first bike is an SV650s, which is great. I've lived in SD all my life until this month, when I moved up to LA. So on the one hand, it sucks because I'm not able to make it out to bike nights or anything, but on the other, I'm closer to the tracks around here. :D

So that's my little intro.

Btw, if anyone knows anyone up here, I'm trying to find some bike nights and peeps that ride up here.

Fixcinater

Hey Wanker.

Welcome to riding, and Hy-Cy. Not to be confused with High Side. Just watch lanesplitting in LA, it can be fun but just remember your (and your bike's) ((AND PHYSICS!!)) limits while doing so. SV-S is a fantastic bike, keep it until you are absolutely bored to death with railing on it full throttle everywhere and cannot stand to ride it any longer. 90% of people upgrade too fast, IMO. I've had my GS500 for going on 8 yrs now (partially because I got a Ducati as a 2nd bike), and I still don't feel like I'm out of power unless I'm wanting to do something I shouldn't be (ie, some stupid pass, or 6th gear/100mph wheelies.

Check out www.burntheedge.com for people in OC/LA to ride with. They are mainly Bandit-based, but I've hung out with them a few times (my parents are in Beverly H1lls), and they are quite welcoming, especially to other Suzuki riders. A twin always sets off a 4-cylinder group meeting, anyway.

I used to have a 01 GSXR when I lived in arizona but had to sell it to move out to Kentucky. Now Im in Cali and figured that the weather here is perfect year round to ride all the time and want to save on gas. If anyone knows of good deals on an R1 or R6 that would be great. Yamaha is my preference but Im willing to settle for a Honda CBR. Thanks and I cant wait to ride with some of you.
