Got Wood?

Anyone know of some lumber yards around the Mira Mesa area? I need some decent quality wood so I can build a decent desk. Home Depot only seems to sell plywood and rotting 2x4's.

Also (this is probably Chuck's area of expertise), what is Home Depot's return policy as far as tools go? Can I buy a hammer drill, a circular saw, a jig saw, and maybe a power sander and then return them the next day a bit used?

Just get a piece of particle board (3'x8'x1") and buy like 6 or 8 cinder blocks. Stack cinder blocks 3 or 4 blocks high and lay the particle board on top. There.. u have a desk.

Also, you might want to check out UCSD dumps... they sometmes have some pretty nice desks there that you see in the dorms. I got my first desk from a dump!!! And it wasn't too bad at all. :)

Dixieline was actually the one I was looking for. I knew I saw one on Miramar Road but I couldnt remember what it was called. Thanks.

Bryant, cinder blocks are WAY too impractical. If I was gonna go ghetto style, I do believe I would be using Papa John's boxes. :cool:

Home Depot WILL return ANYTHING you want with or without a receipt. Used or unused and I mean in any condition. If they have any problems with that ask for the number to corporate headquarters and bada bing bada boom there ya have it. I also worked there for a summer recently and found out all the dirty secrets :cool:
If you don't want to go through the hassle of buying and returning and need to borrow saws and stuff, just holla and I have a variety of power tools including what you mentioned.

Really appreciate the offer, but i think it would make me feel more comfortable if i just used tools that I could return in any condition...just in case. Thanks.
