Hey all,
I let my friend who has NEVER crashed in 2+ years of riding(even when stunting) borrow my Joe Rocket Speedmaster 2pc and he highsided at CA Speedway over the weekend. He is fine with only a sore shoulder. My jacket on the other hand is toast. My speedmaster was the older model with the lines down the front. That model is no longer sold. :(
I wanted to ask my fellow HC peeps as to what jacket you guys wear and maybe what jacket would be best if money was NEARLY no object. I plan to just ask for a few bucks from him and go buy another jacket. With my couple hundred from tax return maybe I can get a sweet blingy/safe jacket.
Thanks for the input!

I have a Frank Thomas jacket, a Teknic 2 piece and a Spidi 1 piece suit. Only the Teknic has been crash tested. :errf: I say go for the Spidi stuff, they are up to par! Hope that helps Charlie!

I borrowed my friend's Spidi textile and I like it a lot. I'll check out their collection. Thanks Arnold. What model is your 1pc? The NRG and the Seven both look sweeeeeeeeeeet!

are you just looking for a jacket? or a suit?
if just the jacket - i actually like the new motogp jackets... pretty good armor and pretty good in price...
with the suit - i wear the motogp compression suit (kangaroo leather) and its been crash tested last week :)

I can't imagine you can go wrong with an A-stars. I think that's why everyone wears them. I like both my textile T-Stunt air-flow and my Spinner. Both fith perfectly and are very comfortable. I had a leather T-Stunt and that was crash tested and proven.

I have a Frank Thomas I had the misfortune to test and it held up very well, in fact I still use it.

Spidi...crash tested..los approved!
My buddy medium-sided (long story  ) at the track and landed mainly on his shoulder wearing an A*s TZ-1. There's seriously just about nothing wrong with his jacket - he had to point out the tiny tiny bit of scuffing on the seam before I saw it - and his shoulder was just a bit sore.

I think alpinestars may be the most cost-effective jacket.... I've never seen or heard an A* (leather) jacket rip. Same goes for spidi, dainese, and vanson. I've heard of teknic and JR jackets split though.

Alpinestars is a solid choice, I agree with Jeff, probably the most cost effective. You also might want to check out the new spidi line since a GB is coming up

I have seen spidi suit rip. Crashed tested and Roda approved. I ripped my spidi at the shoulder.

A co-worker of mine did have some Frank Thomas gloves on in a recent spill he had where the seams pretty much tore open upon impact. His hands were pretty scuffed up where I thought he was actually riding without gloves. Now I don't know about their jackets, but if they don't invest enough care to take care of the hands, should someone chance the same on his/her body? On a positive note, his Dainese jacket did hold up.

Wow lots of responses!
Thanks guys. I took a look at a lot of jackets/suits last night. I particularly like the Spidi NRG and Seven jackets. The A* SMX air flo is quite sweet also.
I was thinking I might just have him buy me a 1pc suit and I buy a jacket with my own money. As far as the full suits, I'm not quite sure what to get yet...

I have an Alpinestars TZ-1 and its an awesome jacket. Its really clean looking, kinda casual so you can where it anywhere, but has good protection in it

Speaking of craigslist: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/mcy/58659569.html
Spring is around the corner and this jacket rocks when it's hot. Plus, it's fully padded.
