Old Julian is a perrenial fave of mine, always nice to hit it up on the way home, sort of a last little twisty fun for the end of the day.
Anyways, yesterday (Sunday) I'm heading home around 2.45pm (ish), I round the right hander after the long straight stretch from the 79. As I do so I see ahead a sportbike turning across the road and parking with a group of maybe 15 bikes. This group was maybe 30 feet away from the following left handed kink.
Whats up with that???? I had to come to almost a complete stop because of a) the bike turning across my path and b) someone walking in the road. :nutkick:
Then later on down the road there was a second group of people hanging out, this time it was immediately on a tiny gravel patch on a left hand turn a little ways after the 180 degree switchback.
Whats up with deciding to sit and hang out immediately on, or after, a turn?? :rifle:
My buddy was riding his cruiser further back (his 955i is out of commision right now), he had the same issues as me, he was like, "What the hell's up with that? They were right in the friggin road!" :squid:

Do me a favor, park off to the side of the road on a straight away, not on or after a turn...please????

yes that was us.
someone in our group went down, thats why there was a group in the first turn.
maybe if you saw that we were all parked because of concern for a fellow rider, it might've made more sense to you.

the second group of us were stopped unexpectedly because we lost the people in the first turn and didn't know what happened, thus the abrupt stop and park. sorry we interrupted your twisties.
we were just concerned for our group and fellow riders.

My bad for not recognising someone had gone down, so my apologies for ranting.
Sincerely hope whoever went down is okay.

Normally when there is a group of motorcyclist on the side of the road , means that something just happened. I dont think anyone in the right mind would just stop in the side of the road and chitchat. Its dangerous.

Tell em, Josh. Hope Bi-Ying is okay. What happened anyway?

I'm fine, thankfully.
took a right turn a little too fast, crossed double yellows (thankfully no oncoming car) got back in my lane... turn going the opp direction right after that i wasn't ready for & didnt have time to make it... ran a little wide hit the dirt on the side of the road and lowsided... just a few bruises and a yucky blister from the exhaust but otherwise all good... poor helmet is scraped and bikey is a little banged up but it works so its ok. Ego's been stabbed 50 times over with a rusty fork though, but it was a good reminder to not get too arrogant...

I didn't really see anything arrogant about the way you rode, Bi-Ying, so I don't think that was the issue. I'm betting you had your mind more on your tests today than anything else, so it's probably just a concentration thing. And it's nothing to be ashamed about either, as everyone falls at some point. I'm just real glad you're okay. THAT is most important.

Just saw this thread. Sorry to hear about your crash.

Wow two incidents in one day.

But the important thing is you are not seriously hurt and your bike is in good shape.

Sorry Bi.
I genuinely didn't realise there'd been an off, I would be the first person to stop if I'd have known. Hope everything heals up quickly.
