I park my bike at a sandwich place and I park it shallow (like always) so cars can see it sticking out of the space. I put my helmet on the tank (which I never do) because I will be watching my goods the whole time through the window.

SO I'm standing inside a sandwich shop waiting for my order and I turn to see this old man backing up his 90's lexus straight into the back of my GSXR. He backs up nice and slow (like he sees the bike), but still runs straight into it. I have never run so fast. I open his car door and start going off...Then I head to my baby laying on its side and search for my Arai which is about 25 feet away. The guy helps me lift the bike up and the tell tale scrapes are on all the right places. The mirror, clutch, pegs, side panneling is somewhat saved by the sliders, but I can see damage. I'm pissed, but trying to calm down. I get his insurance info and phone # in case we can settle off the record. We'll see what happens, but at least I'm not injured. Bikes can be fixed, but mother Fu@kers who can't see shouldn't drive! Damn it!

I am counting my blessings, but also counting the damage in dollars. Suggestions for my 4 month old Arai?

Make him replace everything damaged or go through insurance.

Damn, the worst is probably seeing what's happening or going to happen. But at least you weren't on the bike..

I only have liability ins. Bike is used (98), and only worth $3500, but parts are so expensive.

just go through his insurance - so you wouldnt have to worry about anything... like finding quotes, receipts, etc... his insurance will do that for you...
