View Full Version : What bike to get???
Well i am having a hell of a time figureing out what bike to buy. I need a bike to help with commuting, but would also like to race whatever bike i get. I was set on the zx-6rr but i'm not about to dump 4k into it to make it better than the r6 i have (and there is no guarntee that it won't handle better or be faster..). I LOVE the new r1's and the 2005 GXSR 1k is better than tits. I kinda want to get a sv650, and kinda want to get the R1 and kinda want to get the 6rr and the gsxr1k.. WTF do i do???

I think you need to really narrow down what you want. I think that is why you cant decide?
You want to commute, yet you want to race it...Too totally opposite things. You have a race bike, so if you arent looking to replace that, then go with the commuting idea....dont make compromises, you already have a dedicated track/race bike, get a fun street bike or liter. Last time I heard though, you didnt like all the power of the 1k, so I say go with a new 636, or 750

Mike, what were some of the criteria that they used to compare?
Oh and BTW, Aaron should mention that his bike is pretty much a semi FX bike

+1 for sv1000
fun bikes... I love mine. Doesn't take much to set it up well for more aggressive riding. Springs up front and gix shock in back and it's not far off.

you can buy sv's with all the goodies for less than a new stock 600.... either way you can pass sean on whatever you buy :nutkick:

too bad, it'd get easily crushed by an RC in that class, or a duc

That's a tough choice man :errf: your race bike is sooooo tight already...are you considering racing in another class, or just the 600's. A new litre bike would be dope for commuting, but if you want to play around a little bit a 600 might be more fun overall... What about the gsxr 750? Since you like the gsxr 1k so much.

I don't think i can afford one of those. Even if i could afford it, i could not afford to upgrade whatever i did not like... I guess i am looking for something that is another class that i can ride on the streets as well. I want something that i can take the gf on occationally, and i miss momma pally as well.
Sv1k? I dont love that bike and i have already owned a tlr. Besides i know of a tlr for a good price but i want something i can really rail on....
I guess i am looking at the gsxr 1k, r1, 6rr, sv650, or a grey market.....

does the bike you get have to be brand new? you can save tons if you go for a slightly used bike. especially since you'll be racing it.
Since you already have a middleweight and you're looking to get into another class I'd say go with either a twin (duc, rc51, sv) or the gixx, r1, or zx10...
You can run in the supertwins class with the twins of course, and also lightweight (sv650), middleweight (duc 748/749), or heavyweight (duc916,996,999, rc51).
the liter bikes pretty much only limits you to the unlimited class...
I myself would love to have a new bike as well to run in other classes, but I decided that I need to have the skills to outride my current bike before that happens! So it'll be a few years til I upgrade (most likely 749s or 999)
