It is a bike designed by a European RC tuner. He gets the bikes as light as possible. I think that one weighs 380lbs wet!

I'm not a big fan of those SSSAs. They seem to add weight and less rigidity for the sake of looks.

But it does look nice ;).

Anyone know the difference between the RC-51 and the SP-2?

The SP-2 is a RC51, it is just the European designation for RC51s built 2002 and beyond. Year 2000 and 2001 RC51s are designated SP-1s. The 2002s and up have alot of updated parts, like updated frame, new swingarm, new headstock, bigger throttle bodies, lighter subframe, lighter wheels, etc...

No, not really! I dream about it too ;). It really is quite an accomplishment to get our bikes down to that weight. I know of others that have gone less, but they are privateers in the AMA Superbike class also.

By the sound of it you've pretty much built a new bike and spent every last dime. What's interesting though is that the only bike to have the side radiators moved to the front of the bike (where they should be) was the red, white and blue SP.

Allan, you ever consider get wheels? That has to be a huge weight savings right there and the bike should turn in faster.

I have always considered getting new wheels, and still would like to, but couldn't afford too :-p .

Your eyes are playing tricks on you. That exhaust is a custom jobbie made by Thorsten Thorbauld.

Yeah it is amazing. Carbon fiber everywhere, HRC racing harnesses, HRC ECU along with alot of custom parts will do it. Of course, it adds up to big money also.

The guy had stated on a RC51 forum that he would have to sell it for like 22k to break even, approximately.

deno
01-30-2004, 09:29 AM
ouch. you could buy a Toyota Celica for that much!

...so in this context, 22k doesn't sound that bad eh.

True, but who would buy that girlie car?

I guess if you have 10k burning a hole in your pocket, you can go for it ;).
