I've seen the Frank Thomas brand @ cycle gear and was wondering if anyone has some of their gear. They have a new all roo 1 peice out and the price is pretty decent. But i'm not too familiar with Frank Thomas. I've never seen it out on the road or on track. Does anyone know or heard good/bad things about this brand? Quality wise.... is it worth it? or does this fall along the lines of "u get what u pay for?"

if you don't have any, they are def better than not at all, just get some leathers and once you think you need them get better ones....thats what i did!

I tried some on before I got my Alpinestars suit, and I ddin't think that the quality compared with some other suits that I tried on, but they're still much better than not having leathers.

i got a frank thomas jacket...its cool, its different, and more affordable, but for a while minor things kept breaking like zippers and tabs (actually only brought it back twice), but the good thing about ft is that you can always bring it back to cycle gear, no questions asked. also a few weeks after i bought my first ft jacket, i found another style i liked better and they let me exchange it. so thats pretty cool and i really love my jacket (though the tab just broke...but eh, thats pretty minor), so i'm like 99% happy with my jacket.

I was just about to post a thread about the FT leathers. I'm in the market for my first set and I saw an article in this months Cycle World Magazine and it gives a run-down of their new two piece they have out. It said something about FT leathers are built to fit the bigger riders,I just hope the pants aren't to long for me.I'm heading out to cycle gear tomarrow afternoon to try some on.

I owned a one piece Frank Thomas which did me good. The quality is pretty good for its price compare to others.. I crash on it too and no damage to me just the suit.. The only thing is that it can be pretty long on the legs when it is perfect on the body for a one piece.. I suggest to go for a 2 piece since you can interchange the sizes..

I am on my 3rd pair of FT Air Rage gloves. The first 2 were taken back to cycle gear because the stitching was coming out. They were great about replacing it.

i rock a two piece frank thomas suit and im very pleased with it, ive seen the ground once with it but it was in the dirt of turn 2 at streets of willow, and it held up very well. i would like to eventually get a better suit, but this one does the job more than adequetly for now. its pretty comfortable as well, and i havent broken a thing on it. all the zippers work, all the buttons snap, and its used A LOT (everyone sees me in it when i ride)

The article was vague about it,but is the zipper for the two piece a 360 degree zip around? I heard that's the only kind of two piece track officials will allow.

Good point...gloves....I had two pairs of the F.T Air Rage gloves and the stitching on the velcro patch was poor and the velcro started to shred, traded 'em in with a little cash for some A'Star Pro Plus, now I'm happy. Shame really as they were the best fitting pair of gloves I have ever had.
Still, as far as the suits go, I hadn't heard any bad reports.

I have a FT jacket that has seen the pavement at a pretty highspeed fall, and held up great, I still wear it. I have had no problems with it.

i guess FT is not for me. cuz i bet i dont have long enough legs cuz like john said lenght was too long. im not that big of a guy. well hight wise. who makes a shorter length or a "better fit" suit?
here some specs.
5'4.5" 197lbs.
5'5" on a good day and 190lbs if i haven't eaten all day.
i'd say medium build.... thick around the torso area.(i have thick legs and a gut)
what size u think i should try on? one guy said a 38!? im thinking that might fit until i try to zip it up... im afraid my gut gonna break the zipper! LOL
i need to do some homework on this. what sizes do u guys wear?
if this helps i wear a size 42 icon neo-daytona hero jacket yea the "white" one.. but now its a cream color and it fits me perfectly.(without the liner)

I have a full leather A-Stars GPU one piece suit. It's a size 38 US (48 Euro), the body fits great, but the legs are a little long. I am about the same height as you, but I only weigh 129 lbs., so as you can imagine, if you go bigger, the lenght of the legs will be probably longer. I got my suit at helmetharbor.com for a lot cheaper than from any local stores. You should call them up, cuzz they have great customer service and they can help you with sizing. Another sight is *****************, they have a good selection with good prices. Like someone posted before, for your body size you're probably better off with a two piece suit. Good luck.

i have the frank thomas one piece "R suit", which they dont make anymore, and for the price i think it is by far the best suit i could get. the armor in it is better than most suits and equal to the very expensive suits and it only cost me $399. i have no complaints about it and it is also crash tested, held up fine. as far as leathers go, get what you can afford and that has the best armor

Had a friend go down on while wearing Frank Thomas gloves, and the seams on the gloves came apart where he got cuts and scrapes on his fingers and hands. They were leather gloves with some fabric on some parts. I went down on some A* gloves and they weren't even leather at all, but they kept off the abrasions and cuts. Now that may not be indicative of all of FT's products, but it was enough for me not to consider it.

I've bought their two piece suit and I thought it was fine for 1st time gear. I ended up returning it cuz i felt like it wasn't a perfect fit. And the pants always felt like it was driving into my gut making it hard to breath in a tuck position. As for the one piece, I think it's fine for track day.
I honestly think different brands fit differently on every1! Moto GP was my pick when it came to jackets and 1 piece.(just my opinion)

If your suit is to long, why not take it to a place like A Walker Shoe repair (right up the road from the Q) and get them tailored? It's actually pretty cheap, and they do AAAA+ work. I actually had them *cough* take out my Dainese pants since I was getting a little chunky, and also had velcro patches sewn on for knee pucks. Right now, they're fixing up the one seam that started to come undone on my Dainese jacket... (BTW, ~90 mph crash and that and some scuffs are all the damage on my dainese 2 piece...)

I bought some gloves for the MSF Class and sold them after I got my bike a month later. They were actually pretty comfortable. Carbon fiber knuckes and everything.
